Grow Mediums Air Pots

I think I'll try air pots as well next time but what I don't understand is the difference in the expensive ones over a 100 a pot and the 5 quid ones on ebay and Ali Baba, they look the exact same to me.

I use air pots from Maxx Yield and they are half the price but same thing as expensive ones and they are well built to last a while.

Yo guys jus caught up on this and from experience using many smaller airports back when they 1st came out, I found you tend to get more columnar growth as the pot is so much slimmer!..I've found pot width relates to plant width and pot depth corresponds to plant height!.. id have 6 1litre pots in a square foot ot a 6 litre on the same space but chopped down to half the size for space constrictions ( stealth speaker box grow!.. pics on here somewhere?) it was ideal for a sea of green with little pots cos they all interlock next to each other in tight spaces!.. ended up with a load of budsicles!.. buds on sticks!.. also I found that filling a bin or bucket full of nute solution and dunking the pots till bubbles stopped then letting em drain fully was spot on for making sure all the roots got fed!...
I've started using fabric bags now for cheapness and found that if ya disregard all the water flowing out the sides and keep watering them til the pots are saturated then ya know the plants have been fully watered!.. just my 2 pence!...
Easy now!..

Thank you for sharing those observations you made re depth/height & width. And the dunking tip seems a very good one too, just the sort of basic things that are really helpful, bravo !

I noticed you mentioned going back to fabric though. I do a lot of reuse and repurposing of things I already have and thought I would share what I've done although I know nothing of how effective it will be as the grow is just starting. I wanted 2 or more really big pots so I cut off an old trash bin and a plastic 35 gal. barrel, drilled holes in the bottom of course and I wanted air holes in the sides, I just didn't feel like doing all the drilling lol. I was trying to think of what I could put in the pot along with the soil, some irregular shape that would create voids with air for the roots. I ended up using practice golf balls that are wiffle balls, so they're strong enough to hold their shape, roots can get at the air inside, and they're cheap. A pack of 15 for like $2.97, I put 11 each in the big pots and 4 each in 2 smaller pots. Seems like it should be of some help and a cheap way to aerate all those regular containers and spend the airpot money on beans, right ?
