What is your yield in terms of weight per sq. ft.? You have 46 sq. ft. How much dried buds does that usually provide? Or how many plant do you grow (in that space at 1.5-2 oz./plant)?

I have 2 flower areas, one of cobs/qb and the other is hps/blurples. Guess I look at yeilds by plant...Unless stunted, and that's rare, I expect at least 1.5 oz from any auto....the cob/qb tent at 46w sq ft gives me 2+ with fatter/firmer nuggs. A strain that doesn't pull its weight gets pushed out of any re-grow....
Right now I have 6 plants in a 2x3 tent and 6 under a hps/blurple tent.... i.e...a plant per sq ft.. all are at varying stages and 3 are usually harvested bout every 10 days or so. .snug but nothing like a sea of buds.... great hobby and ya get to burn the evidence.

Yes, I run mostly autos and usually with a photo alongside just for shits and grins....I always flip photos at 3 weeks so they stay small as an auto and still give me the 1-2 oz of herb... The only secret I can share is ...patience and don't push the rope.
How do you view the quality and potency of such small(er) plants vs. the larger ones most try to grow?

After years of growing under various conditions, various lights and many various strains, I've actually never found potency to increase with size or quality of autos or photos. Even a stunted plant is about as potent as a well grown plant, just not as much of it so I feel I don't miss much....
I grew 9 plants this in 3 gal fabric pots and have since switched to 3 gal airpots. when I harvest, I always take a good look at the roots and I can say the root structures are no comparison. The airpots roots are about 5 times bigger.
asked the wife for a couple for christmas so I can start my change over from fabric. 
So, I got my airpots, and more than I expected. MIL, SIL (x2) and wife all got me some, and one SIL got hooked up by the amazon filler and got 5 when she only ordered 1.
So my next runs will be most likely all airpots since I now have more than I can use!
QUESTIONS:
1) Is there a good video, or page that shows how to fill these, I've read a few places that it can be a little tricky.
2) I am a soil guy, I read on the airpot website that these are mostly for a coco type grow. Can I use soil? I'm JUST starting to really connect the dots on some of the soil growing stuff in my head and am not excited about the potential need for switching.
