scuse me for offering criticism (hint: i'm the asshole)
i don't like to think of "the general public" as a mindless sea of sheep - i believe in respecting everyone as an individual, even if it is challenging to encounter many people who are eg. "less informed" than others so scuse me for looking at the "marketing angle" like a bitch... it's still the commonality all of us have to deal with in the world -
i don't think punters ("prospective customers") care about who is tight with AFN and who is new. if they've never heard of AFN it's more information than they need to decide that AFN is where they can check out the autos they've been curious about.... aamof, "NEW" is something that attracts attention.. you could list the regs and then go big with "NEW dp and flash..."

also (and this is outside of criticism just general thought) dp are big players in seed. everyone knows who they are, and making them more prominent legitimises AFN even though they're new around here. like putting their logo on a banner would be instant recognition (maybe in the bottom center as it's symmetrical..)
i don't know if it's extra for an animated banner add.. (i doubt it..) in the industry i'm in banner ads are fucking expensive. like $400 for a tiny one, the 728 x 90 banners are like $650 a month... you PAY for every pixel, and it adds up.
i'd say the AFN guys should leave this thread open for a while, see if they can snag any more ambitious young people looking to build a portfolio, then lock it up, decide exactly what ideas they want and put it together as an animated gif that flashes eg. dutch passion and whatever other highlights then final frames to a summarisation blurb, "where is all this keen shit happening?"
(as an extra thought.. if you go with animated.. you may want to not put dutch passion first..... because if the banner is at the top of the window on say a growers forum, people are only going to see it for a second before they scroll down... and if the dutch passion logo appears... weelll.. everyone's seen that a lot, they'll think it's just another dp banner and skip it. you want to put something offbeat first that makes people wait for a moment.. "this is new shit.. is this something i need?" i'd say don't fuck around and get straight to the point, even just flashing the word "AUTOFLOWER" a few times is going to attract the right kind of attention.... just don't make it too annoying because then ppl will hate you

if you look at the top of the page you get the dope-seeds.com banner... which is pretty good. the animation adds the logos for all breeders. the continuity maintains interest....
...i'd say the first order of business is getting logos for flash and dirty. maybe the 2nd order of business would be to forget this contest and hire a professional (hint: i'm the asshole)
