New Grower Afghan kush ryder Cfl/LED 1st time grow

Hey everyone ive been lurking on quite a few different forms over the past few months and in that time ive constructed my own "stealth" grow box out of the drawers on my computer desk. Out of all the other forms ive lurked on this one i felt had the nicest community so i decided to share my first time grow with you guys

Currently my grow box contains two 20w red Cfls and one 40w red Cfl, 2 pc fans, one intake and one exhaust and a 15l airpot that i cut about 11cm shorter so to give my plant more head room, i put my Afghan kush ryder bean straight into the soil yesterday morning on the 14th. I dont expect it to rise until tomorrow morning at the earliest. Im planning on ordering my 150w UFO led grow light sometime next week, as im sure the 80watts of cfls I have in there will be enough for the seedling grow well for the first 2-3 weeks.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with LSTing an Afghan kush ryder? does it respond well? I have very limited head room in my box so im sure LSTing will be a necessity, i was also considering a scrog as ive seen people doing pc grows getting good results with there limited space, but i have more vertical space than horizontal so im sure a scrog would ineffective. From the photos you will clearly be able to see the lock i put on the front of the drawers, this takes away form the "stealth" idea of the grow box but it was very necessary.

Wow. you are going to have to LST the shit out of her. with that pot she will get about 2 to 3 feet tall.
nice grow box.
I see people growing in red solo cups in that small of a space.

Hey thanks joedirt, I feared that I might have actually chosen a container that was too big for the space, the pot was propped up on a load of books so I took a new photo showing how much room my plant has when the pot is resting on the base of the box. would you suggest that I reduce the size of the pot further? i would hate to have to pull the plant if it got too big :/

Hey and welcome!
You chose the right place for sure!! This is the finest community anywhere, and it's where some of the finest auto growers are to be found.
Looks like just about enough space if you train her up well. I hope you will be able to manage her. I was surprised how tall my critical chees and biodiesel mass got, I don't think they are much more than 25-27 inches, and that's with no training.
I did not see any mention of odor control. That's going to be key in your stealth grow. Something you should figure out sooner than later!

My first grow is an Afghan Kush Ryder as well, best of luck to you!! She seems to be a hardy little plant. I was afraid I had stunted my plant because by week 4 they were only like 6 inches tall.... then I left for a week to go out of town, came back and they were HUGE. She will surprise you!!

Hey willie thanks for the karma! I took the seed out of the soil on the 15th and put it in some moist kitchen towel placed between two plates so I could take another inch off of the pot, the seed hasn't popped and probably wont for another day or two. With regards to odour control Im planning on buying some ona gel when I order my LED light so that should do well enough just sitting above my exhaust fan and I also need to buy my dog a new lead so when im down in the pet shop im gonna get some activated carbon. I was planning on just sprinkling some of the carbon in the light trap of the exhaust and then putting some of it in some tights and placing it in front of the sucking end of the exhaust fan, ive seen tutorials on making a DIY carbon filter out of two metal mesh pencil cups and tights but my fan would never be able to push through something like that so i guess ill just have to make due with what i have, the carbon im buying is granulated so it wont really blow everywhere.

Hey MaryJane, thanks! Did you use any nutes while growing yours? Im not sure if Im going to use any yet, just a bit apprehensive over nute burn issues since I only have one seed. How did you find the smoke? ive read that she can be pretty potent

I am only into week 5 LF, and yes I have the Advanced Nutrients line of Jungle juice and so far I have fed them with micro and grow together, which did well, and then just a few days ago I fed them with grow and bloom, and she responded positively as well. My recommendation is just to do 1/4 of the regular dose

Also, I did the pencil holder and panty hose carbon filter!!! It seriously works well, however the room I have my tent in still smells when I open the door.

Thanks for the advice MJA I was talking to my friend and he said that he would lend me some Canna Nutrients to use when in need them, he also recommend using them at 1/4 strength. Im planning on just mixing some molasses with water in the second or third week and then in the 4th or 5th week introducing the nutes. On the 19th the tap root finely poked out of the seed so I placed it in the soil, and only today did its little head sprout out of the ground I knocked off the seed shell "hat" it was wearing and to my surprise there was a little green bundle separated from the shell, at first I thought I pulled off the baby leaves but now I just think its the seeds food store or am I horribly mistaken and I've killed the plant? Tbh I am certain that everything is fine and i cant wait to see my little pant grow

Hhaha, good start, and I think you will be fine using just molasses for that long. If you have goodie in your soil (little microorganisms) They will appreciate the blackstrap.
