Hi all,

I will be trying to attempt an experiment grow journal with the AeroGarden (AE) Ultra LED, specifics below.

Seed: Dr. Kripplings Dizzy Lights Auto

Germination: paper towel soaked in Maxcorp's Liquid Seaweed (tap root in 24-hours.)

Medium: Rapid rooters moistened with liquid seaweed in AE pods.

Start day: 9/22/2016

Additions - small air stone for extra oxygenation.

Yes, when it starts to flower (and sometimes sooner), there WILL be a smell. If smell is a concern, I recommend a tent and a carbon filter with exhaust fan (you can get a controller with a dial that allows you to adjust the speed of the fan based on your needs).

I've always wanted to try one of those things with some autos. Mind if I grab a seat and watch this unfold.

Yes :)

I guess this isn't a problem for you, how lucky you are!

Looking forward to seeing little autos in there, if you keep the light on 24/7 for the first 30 days you should fill that thing up nicely with little bushes. Apply darkness to even the growth out all the way up to the lights, I found they do just fine right up close to a weak led source.,.

Ive used the areogarden all the time horrible for flower great seed starter and awesome for clones. I wish you luck but ive been there wont work, you can try to top it since it's an auto to stunt it a bit and force flower early, but if you let it go it will not work the roots will not restrict themselves or know that they have limited space till it's too late.

Thanks njdtjq, I will try to keep the lights as close as I can.

Agreed lieinlarry, I'm relatively confident I won't succeed because of that exact reason. The one gallon of water that the AeroGarden reservoir takes won't be anywhere near enough for the root mass.

I'm going to try to set up a separate reservoir to feed 200 ml of nutrients every two hours to total 2400 ml in w day. I'm hoping this will help the root mass maintain health despite the mass. Hopefully, we will see.

As for topping, I only plan on doing some of low stress training (LST) to maintain height given the two feet height of the LED light (I may supplement two simple grow bulbs for extra lighting and direction control in vegetation). I'm aware that flowering will be very difficult, but I want to focus on the vegetation stage for now.

To keep things simple, I will use a lowered dose of the Lucas Formula (8ml General Hydroponics Flora Micro per gallon mixed with 16ml of General Hydroponics Flora Bloom per gallon). Probable 5ml / 10ml, but I'll let the plants tell me what they need.

Thank you,

To stunt growth you need to keep the lights on 24/7 for most of veg, depending on strain thatll be 3-4 weeks. Itll work much better than topping - autos will seek light (grow upwards) during dark periods, so denying them that will make little bushes if the lights are close to begin with... also topping doesnt stunt growth that much - ive seen a topped plant with two or four new colas hit the lights easy at 20/4 midway through the grow!

Seems like you have a well thought out plan. I will. Check in and wish you the best of luck seems like a great experiment, ive never topped an auto before but autobeast has great results with topping. I luckily have a tent with hps but use aerogarden for my photo clones and they take root in less then a week. I also agree that they will stretch with a dark period, if your not comfortable with 24/0 which would be fine you can go with 20/4, im sure you know this you seem well informed
