Indoor AB's latest grow log - Launch of the Badboy!

Thanks for the +rep mate, I always try to share useful info. I know how time consuming is to dig old threads just to find the right info and that's why I'm trying to keep daily updates in my journal.
I'll follow your grow.

Cheers :smokebuds:

Thanks, bud. Checking out your grow right now. :smokeit:

No pics today, but I have to confess that I've made some rookie mistakes this week. Since watering a few days ago, I haven't spent much time with the plants apart from peeking in the tent to make sure they're not growing into the lights. Things have looked good, and they're still putting on height, though all but the PAK appear to be moving from veg to flower. Late last night I went to water the smaller pots, and I was surprised to find that the AKR at the back of the tent had severe spotting on some lower fan leaves & a few of them had gone crispy. Rule #1 broken is always pull the plants out and give them a good inspection every few days. :cuss:

So after seeing the classic signs of pH induced lockout, I was puzzled about what was going on. Then the dim, flickering light bulb appeared above my fat head. I hadn't calibrated my pH meter in over a month! :cuss: Rule number two broken - take care of your equipment if you want it to take care of you. Low and behold I found that it was reading around .4 higher than the actual pH. Not such a big problem for the other plants that had runoff around 6.5 at the last watering. But the AKR was at 6.15 earlier in the week, meaning it is actually in the mid to high 5s. So I skipped the nutes other than a splash of Big Bloom, and hit her with a good watering at 7.25. Runoff was at 6.4, so hopefully now she'll be able to start eating again.

The downside is that I'm going to lose some fan leaves over this, and it's likely that this episode will keep this plant from reaching the 18" height that I wanted at the end of veg (it's around 14" now). The upside is that the plant looks much more healthy since it's been chowing down on its own leaves. And this is a really bushy girl, so if any of them could stand to lose some leaves, it's this one. Otherwise it's got some really nice bud sites and is heading towards full flower, so I'm glad I corrected this before it was really working on the buds.

I've also taken the step of making a weekly note in my journal for the next couple of months to check the damn meter since I'm obviously too absent-minded to do it without a reminder...

Oops. Maybe she'll surprise you and will put on those last few inches. Optimism is the word. :wiz:
And calibration. That's a good word. :bong: :D

I'm looking forward to your next pic update! Should be getting nice and hairy, huh?

Jeeze Andy, you didn't pull them out and check them over? My word.

*runs to tent to pull out Mi5 that have only been peeked at for two weeks*

Yeah, but this grow has been cursed from the start so I should know better than to assume things can run on autopilot for more than a couple of days. I wasn't really expecting any more pH problems, but I have been concerned about hermies due to the various stresses that these plants had early on. Thankfully I haven't seen any sign of that, but I sure as hell don't want one of them shooting a load into my tent and further screwing up the works.

Yes, the only thing with a ripe banana around the tent should be the proud grower. I'm just glad you reminded me to give the girls a twice over, I've been stuck on autopilot having to go up north to take care of the grand folk and starting a new term in school. I forget I'm doing autos this run and not photos, time to pay attention to what I'm doing....kinda.

Well good thing you caught it when you did. ( I tend to find the good in the bad) it could have been worse. Can't wait
To see the girls. Patiently awaiting your next
Photo update. I'm a garden freak so I do a close inspection atleast every 2 days. Like real close, laying down looking up the skirt, bending leaves and close examination of the internodes, bud sites and under sides of the leaves. It always seems that the first time you don't do a good inspection for a few days something ended up going wrong. Just to spite you like " See what I did because you werent paying attention to me" Almost
Like my wife except she just spends my money and doesn't come home sporting a nut sack. Catch ya later Andy good karma your way bro :wiz:

:crying: That's funny stuff, Cap. Yeah, it could definitely be worse and I'm glad I caught it early. I'll get some pics up soon. :smoke:

I can't help myself from laughing. The image of it all--a scene from a Japanese XXX movie with canna stars.
