New Grower A 4 strain grow. Second try.

Thanks guys, I have been so busy with work I can barely have time to water them. The smell and the density of the buds is amazing they are all covered in milky cristals.
The sister is coming down tomorrow or this evening depending on time availability.
I'll try and get a photo of the tent with the new hosts..

Down she goes, second Critical Jack.

Here is a question to the wise ones....
This plant I have left is a Dinafem Blue Cheese.
She was a week behind the other 3.
She was the only one to go under the COB still growing flowers, the other 3 were only fattening up.
So while I though the was going through a late growth spur, now as I look at her under the 40x lenses I know I was wrong.
She has 60% amber 40% milky, so I bit overdone for my taste.
But as you can see by the fotos, she did not swell up, or harden the buds, it looks like all that COB light just created fox tails in every bud. So she is well ready, but all buds are fluffy and lack any substance. Which is a shame as I was hoping she was going to fatten up.
Regretfully she will not.
What do you guys think.? Could the brightness of the COB trigger the foxtail. Or it's just a bad plant/grower situation.
I really though she had another week of fattening.

So this is what is left of the first BlueCheese (110g wet)
Ok smoke, I think she could have had one more day of flush, as the smoke is a bit harsh.
Still curing and a nice yet not very strong smell.

And here are the 2 Critical Jack with a combined dry weight of 110g.
These are just starting to cure and opening the box for the picture has unleash a tremendous wave of deep skunk.

Both boxes are 00 cure boxes. One medium one big.

With all the plants from the previous Grow finished and a couple of free hours... hopefully.
So as I was away the 4 had their stretch and it's was a big one. These 4 take 20cm on the previous 4. and they look stronger too.
Having changed to smart pots they tend to need to be watered more often, and now that I have been very busy, it's been a challenge to keep them well watered and I found them lacking in water twice already.
The Critical +2.0 is making buds and looks like it will produce a very nice main cola, as the FIM cut was too high. The OGKush handled the topping very well and apart from the overstretched look she is healthy and also making buds.
The Blue Kush has been amazing, takes up the nutrients well, did not stretch as much as her sisters, and is also making buds
The Blue Dream just started to make flowers and is smaller and slower that the other 4. But she has a beautiful look and great potential.
They all have gigantic sun leaves and look overall healthy.
There was a slight N excess on all 4 and the Critical has had some nute burn in the past but seems to be able to handle it better now.
I have started to do a water day between feeds.
I'll try and get some pictures up, I need to remove them from the tent to get some proper photos.

They are all around day 50 give or take a day.
The Blue Dream, a beautiful yet sad plant, she always has something to complaint about, with too much water or not enough, she drinks one day and not the next, not easy to keep happy, she felt strained changing from the Viparspectra 600w to the Budmaster II COB-X 6
Both draw 300w from wall but there is no comparison.
I sometimes look at this plant and think about the robot in hitchhikers to the galaxy...

The OG Kush, what a beauty, strong, powerful huge leaves, handles HST like she enjoys it. Does feel sensitive to N and had to take it out of her diet as much as possible, she makes beautiful buds in lengthy stems, she has a blueish tone to her, and the stalks are dark purple and makes for a beautiful plant.

Critical + 2.0 is a beauty, handled my failed fim attempt very well, is quite sensitive to nutes and gets burned easy yet recovers quickly.
The main cola buds seem very strong already and I think she might bring me some happy times later on.

Blue Kush, a easy no hassle plant to grow, she looks good and she has the best smell, it's very fruity and fresh, it's always a pleasure to get close to this one, remarkable structure, and if somewhat smaller that the OG Kush and the Critical+ she is bigger than the Blue Dream and has always looked healthy and strong. She is the youngest she is only 45 days old

All in all the COB have so far replaced my 600w HPS with lower power consumption and lower heat problems as the winter comes to a end here.
A very expensive but amazing piece of kit. Let's see how they make it to the end.
And my next Grow I will try not to use the Viparspectra during veg and make it 100% COB and see the difference..

Holy schmoley mate sorry I've only just caught up with your journal!

MASSIVE congrats on the harvest mate! :woody: :baby: :pass:

You had some awesome plants in there and you got a really decent harvest off them mate, seriously well done. How's the smoke now mate?

As for the one that you hoped would fatten it's buds up under the new cobs, I had EXACTLY the same experience as you mate. My buds got to a certain size and were still airy. Then I added the new cobs and thought they would fatten up and get chunky. But what actually happened was the same as you mate: lots and lots of foxtails growing off the buds, but the buds themselves didn't get any fatter :(

I think the cobs can only do so much. What's already done is already done. Starting off from day 1 with cobs is a different matter though!

Your second lot of plants look awesome mate! They are clearly loving life in your tent and under your care brother :d5: :pass:
