DIY 6' x 3.5' closet conversion/exhaust ideas please

A question nobody has asked yet is what's above your ceiling? You can exhaust straight into the crawl space or you can tap into a plumbing vent and exhaust outside.

Ducting straight up to the ceiling would be a lot easier than cutting your door. You're intake is probably not going to be an issue, that door is nowhere near air tight - enough air will came around it to supply your exhaust.
I'm living in a triplex and dont want to use what I'm not renting, specifically. Other than the skylight, the closest window is 20' away, at the top of the stairs coming up to room. It may be used if things expand and the tent gets ditched.

doesnt look like much air will get through that.

What about a narrow, 16"x 2" (ish) vent with cover here?

Also, I thought it might help, if you can get a better picture of why some things need to be the way they are atm

That's tight! You could buy a 3*5 tent and put in the cupboard and leave door open. The fabric I suggested would reflect as well as a Matt paint wall. I wouldn't use stick on velcro, daily use would cause it to separate or tear. Two pieces of material overlapped in the middle of the door might work. Then use tie backs like a tent to get in and out. A 2*16 vent is enough for a 4" fan. There are rectangular to round duct fittings for walls, they are used for dryers going into a stud wall.

Actually Rollin my little configuration involving the foil and Velcro worked very well ..... You gotta make sure you buy good Velcro but it sticks like crazy to both trim and foil ..... Lasted 5-6 months until I figured out the led light I had back then was not sufficient for buds so I stopped and was only 21 months from retirement ..... anyways there sure are lots of options - even one as simple as hanging a curtain in doorway and temp remove door ..... just put curtain rod inside closet above door .... hardly any destruction to dwelling, and small holes above door inside closet ..... put shower curtain on other side of cloth ...... ventilation thru underside and cloth, may just need to have weight in bottom of cloth or pin something to bottom or ???

Lots of options!

Through the wall, into the tent, into a Y-piece with the tent fan on the second inlet, one exhaust out like you have

Thanks man. I'm torn between the fabric and the reflective roll mentioned. I like the zipper idea, in the middle of either one and putting some velcro on the wall to hold doors open.
If I do get velcro, I won't go cheap, I'll get some that lasts.
I'm not crazy about a tent in there, seems a waste of space really.

Getting vents for this space seems the easiest route.

I couldn't find 16x2. So, either 14"x2" or (2) 10x2

I know there are tons of options. I'm very indecisive, if you haven't noticed. I like to do things correctly, once.

Do you see any drawback from using those vent covers, 14x2 or (2) 10x2?

This will be a summer option. I want to keep as much heat as possible. I'm essentially going to treat both rooms, closet and tent, as one bigger room.

A 4" exhaust gives me roughly 12.5" square inches. (2) 2"x10" vent covers

Will give me 40 square inch, intake. Or, just over 3x exhaust, taking into account vent cover louvers.

I'm very thankful for the ideas being bounced around. I know its frustrating trying to help, when ideas get shot down for one reason, or another. Thanks @archie gemmill @MrOldBoy @Rollin_along without you peeps I'd of more than likely postponed this to a much later date.

In conclusion, I will have a 4" fan in closet, exhausting into 8x4 tent, wich has a 6" fan exhausting out window. (2) 2"x10" vents, same side, opposite end of closet for intake. Door stays put. Simple. Perfect. :thanks:
