Hi all! Any experienced growers know if the the 48 hours of darkness before chopping and drying is a myth or not . . . I can’t seem to find and proven evidence just a lot of for and against the debate. What’s your views?

I've never felt the need to but I'm pretty sure you will get lots of opinions bro

Do you guys think, cavemen growers would try to harvest during an eclipse to get all the extra juice out of their plants?

Two days in dark, I have no idea, but screams bro science since its never been done in nature.

Somewhere in the past, all old stoners have tried every conceivable way to improve something about everything especially when high.....damn, gotta write that shit down.....now where's my pencil....

This has been tested here on AFN many times over the years. myself included. tried it twice. wIth before and after pics. no change. to my eye or the camera lens.:nono: and consensus from other people split. some said yes it did. Most said no i think it's BRO science. :2cents: data go's back to 2011.

I do it personally but and it does seem to have some effect exactly what is going on I can't say as it definitely has an element of bro science to it for sure. I just listened to an interesting podcast the other day with a very respected individual and there was a question directed towards him about flushing. Which does not do what people think flushing WILL NOT actually pull any excess nutrients or salts or anything from the flowers whatsoever. He goes on to explain the flowers unlike leaves are only sinks not warehouses if you will and once the plant has taken nutrients to the flower it can't use them to aid in growth like it can with leaves. So scientifically flushing is bullshit. However he also then pushes back and points out there is enough anecdotal evidence to show something is definitely happening when we flush but it is likely more related to the shocking of the plant causing some sort of reaction potentially survival elements of the plant. Anyways theomg and short of it is flushing doesn't do what we think it does but it does something. The dark time could be similar in that it does do something in regards to stress and whatnot but 48 hours isn't enough to make a drastic difference so what is happening if anything is up for debate. For me there is times where is just need the space as soon as I can get it so a day or two from ripe and I can move it into my dark tent so it's partially convenient for me. Life is all about experiments and experience so do your thing either way and don't stress about it I would say either way you will be OK
