I've been growing autos for awhile now but this is my 1st time being able to use my 400w setup. I've been using 150w and my buds came out big and airy. To sum it up I would like to know is anyone getting dense buds with a 400 Watt. I'm hoping I do Cuz it would put my weight up. And rite now I'm currently running
AK Ryder
Pakistan Ryder
Smurfberry
And Double Diesel Ryder.

i have a 400w hps that i normally use for my indoor ops... yes it is mnuch denser buds... but i found in my space it still required a pair of 125 watt cfls... I also use 2 uvb supllemental lights... uvb 20 26 watt reptisuns.

hope this helps mate... light intensity is key!

you'll see size and density in this thread

should i went the same way from a 150w to a 400whps and the difference was great. id say so far in 8 grows since ive done that ive seen about a 5 to 15 gram per plant increase. but try to remember sum of the sativa based plants buds are airy anyway you grow them lol most of the indicas have those chunky dence buds. hope this helps again this is just my :2cents:
:bong:

:howdy:most of my grows have been with a 400w HPS,and iv got a 250w HPS, but the 400w is the nuts, have a look at some of my pictures thery all been under a 400w,:peace:

agreed on the sativa vs indica... but you'll find much denser buds in general.. (more weight per cubic area) with higher light levels... you want to see 3500 lumens per sq ft plus if possible... a 400 hps is about 43,000 lumens... hope this helps.

my area for example.... is 5 feet long x 3 feet wide... i use 1 440 watt hps (in turbo mode) plus 2 125 watt cfls plus 2 uvb supplementals.
440 watt hps = 45,000 lumens
125 watt cfls= 12k x 2 = 24k lumens

69000 lumens / 14.1 sq feet = 4893 lumens per sq ft.

oh yeah... provided you can control heat... there is no such thing as too much light indoor... think of the sun at 10,000 to 40,000 lumens per sq ft...

Wow! Never thought about to much lite...mhm..so a 1000w lite in say a 4'x6' space mite be to much? What is the down fall to haveing to much lite? The mfg of my 290w led claims his lite is so intense you have to increase nutes, would this be the same?

@Weedmasta:

Have you tried adding PK13/14 nuts? If you havnt, this will give you better buds.

Thanks guys for the information. I believe I have adequate lighting since I'm running it in a 2x4 tent.
And @zaQ I use koolbloom dry its pretty high in p and k.

Yeah i guess the only solution is to turn that 400w lamp on and give us a nice grow journal. I guess you will notice a big different from 150w to 400w HPS. I just built my setup, I have 800w on 1.44m2, will see if I have same problems or not with the buds. Happy growing :)

its fine... in fact great even... if you can control heat.... and yes with light increase comes huge growth rate increase and consequently higher nutrient requirements... hope this helps mate!

turn em on and roll!!!!!!! show us pics!!!! :)
