4 plants for a 70x70?

I like the indoor organics' soil. The thing is if you are mixing your own you need to let it "cook" for a while . I used to make mine several months ahead. I never layered I just mix it all up the roots will find what they need.

ok, as uzual, me late to the game here :rolleyes2: and it soundz like u got a great plan in the workz (me like the soil mix) so me jus gonna say subbed, grab me coat & move on... :pop: :smoking:

ppp & :goodluck:

A viable alternative is to grow the 4 plants you're considering without any topping or training.
Early on, when they are smaller, more energy will be absorbed by 4 plants than by 1.
The canopy can fill faster and absorb more energy faster.
Cutting a plant stresses it at least a little, and probably slows it down a bit.
When a full canopy is achieved, number of plants doesn't really matter.
Careful with height. This assumes un-trained plants won't grow into the lights.
This style is especially useful for those of us who like a lot of different strains every grow.
Leaf tucking on 4 plants will accomplish about the same thing as topping/training on 1 plant, and will probably do it faster.

Wet & dry bag weight. That's a great idea! I'll have to put bathroom scales on the list as well now...
Cheaper, takes up less space and simpler, such as if your fabric pots have handles, consider a digital hanging, luggage, etc. scale readily available for less than $10.

I'll only have about a week with the soil before the seed's ready to go in. I was considering sprouting a cover crop like clover under the light for that week just to jump start the mix. Do you not find the soil too hot without layering or does a lengthy cook negate that issue??

Thanks @Simplicio, that was my initial thought when I started the thread. The idea of multiple strains is what I find really appealing. I may well try multiple plants a couple of grows down the line. After reading through a few threads & the good advice given on this one, I just figured that for a new set up simplicity is best until I get certain parameters dialed in. Also, my tent is only 160cm tall so height without topping/training may become an issue. For now at least, I have my monster auto green crack XXL beans. One of which should easily fill that little space :)
