Sup all, I had brought seeds back with me from a vacation to Ocho Rios, Jamacia with my girl in 1993. I grew a few in 93' then stored the rest of the seeds. I was cleaning out some draws yesterday and bumped into them. I thought I had lost or threw them out by accident. So I want to germinate a few of them, they are untouched naturally grow Jamaican sativa photo, but they are from 1993, 32yrs old. I'm wondering if they will pop. What do you think? - PS: @cannapixnyc is my handle on X.

I remember the seeds I brought back from Jamacia ...good times. Anyways after 32 years I would guaranty they are no longer viable. They would last that long maybe if frozen. But stuck in a sock drawer they most likely were only good for 5 years or so.

  • In 2008, researchers successfully germinated 110-year-old seeds: Hordeum vulgare (90% germination rate) and Avena sativa (81% germination rate).
  • In 2010, another group of scientists successfully germinated 151-year-old seeds from the Acacia shrub species.

I'll have to try. Maybe scratch & soak in water overnight. then do the paper towel method, April/Spring is coming. I would put um outdoor. Will use solo cups just incase they germinate, this way i can bury um. - would be a trip if they popped. Stay tuned...

I don't know if this is true, but i heard when a seed has that little nipple sticking out of one end of the seed, that its a female. True?

I think if you take all the steps and tips to germ older seeds like scarring the shell scraping them soaking in water etc. that you should get something to happen! Just know that the plants might start off really slow, but the genetics are there, so if you can grow them out it would be awesome to save those genetics!

There is no way of looking at a seed and determining sex. Thats all bro science
