Well after the first grow was a success minus all the mistakes made, finally got the time to get a second grow going now that we're not relocating as previously thought. I'm doing 4 different strains again, after saying I wouldn't, but I'm a glutton and I think I figured out some missteps from the first grow. This time I'm just growing in straight coco, no perlite added. The canna brand coco seems pretty perfect, and I may have botched it last time by rinsing it and a lot of other unneeded things since I had no clue what I was really doing yet.
This time around I germed 4 seeds and they all 4 popped within 2 days of putting them in to jiffy pods. I transferred them to their 5gallon buckets as soon as their tap roots poked out the bottom of the pods.
Germed November 4th
Sprout November 6th
Already this is a huge improvement as my last grow had a few dead ones out the gate due to rookie mistakes. One thing I learned from last time is it's pretty impossible to over water but it's definitely easy to overfeed so I plan to cut the feeds in half of what I did last grow, but still water aggressively. Last grow the plants were like bushes so I'm anticipating similar growth. Maybe better this time around since it's winter and the temp is far easier to control now.
The HLG 320 XL's are worth their weight in gold as far as I'm concerned. Definitely happy to have invested in them up front. The amount of flower the first grow brought in, and the quality of it paid for the lights and then some, as far as money I no longer have to spend each month at the dispensary. Even tax free with a card, that stuff still added up if you were looking for top shelf medicine.
So that is where we're at right now. Here's their baby photo. I forgot how quickly they grow. Like a weed or something
