New Grower 2nd Grow: Anvil, Sour Stomper, CDLC // MH SP3000 // BioALL Org. Soil

cdlc is a good strain.

Now that I've watered a couple of times, my soil is probably three inches below the tops of the cloth pots. I've read about some people top-dressing with more soil during a grow to add more nutes that way, and I obviously have plenty of room for that.

Have any of you guys ever done that? I'm thinking the timing would be best best after maybe 14-17 days, when it's starting to deplete the nutes that were in the original soil, as I think it takes some days to benefit the plant.

Not sure if I'll do this or not; I'm mostly just curious if y'all have, and how you approached it.

I have done this. Allows more roots to form too I believe.

So, do you top dress with it like, say, a week or a few days before you felt the plant/s needed it? Did you just kind of add a nice layer and work it into the top of the soil, then water it in?

I'll be leaving for TAC right around the time I'd planned on giving my girls their first small feeding. I kind of hate to feed them nutes and then leave, so I'm considering the idea of top dressing them with more soil and then just waiting until I get back from the Cup to start actual nutes.

I just felt there was room for more so added more. If I remember correctly she was a bit leggy so I thought if I topped up the soil she wouldn’t fall over easy. I don’t use nutes for the first three weeks as there is some in the biobizz light soil I use.

yep i use both of those and can say they work. i used them in both 2x2 and 4x4 with water only all grow

With the low soil level thing, i just add more when the plant is big enough for me to add more. if it stays short and bushy it is really hard to add more soil or top dressing so i end up folding/rolling the fabric pot's extra cloth down and on the big plants i add more when i can.
