New Grower 2budz “In over my head” grow

I’m at work so I’m thinking hey just let them grow and see what happens I haven’t done that yet. But then I know when I get home and see the great side branching on a couple I’ll be like man that plant sure would do well topped lol.

Unfortunately I’m having some struggles in this tent. Not sure if it’s because I brought Ocean Forest into the equation or I’m using plastic pots for the first time. I definitely overwatered in the beginning, then had some N toxicity. This morning they were droopy because they were dry so watered a small amount (half a liter maybe) and they’re not looking so hot. We never want to see this but in all honesty I wouldn’t be heart broken if this grow ends up being a bust. I’m moving to bigger pots in this tent next round and maybe 2 plants. Don’t get me wrong they’re growing well but I’ve never had leaves curled under like this. They’re the correct color green and no leaf burn. I guess it could be worse.
Tbh sometimes in veg I don’t get things right. But once they switch to flower I don’t usually have any issues. So we will see.

I'm a fairly new grower and had a similar experience when switching from Happy Frog to another vendor's soil. Not that the soil was bad, but it was different. Honestly I could have worked out the nute changes but I just switched back.

Before giving up on this grow you could up-pot to larger pots and just keep whatever you can fit. YMMV but when I started growing in larger pots I stopped having major problems.

I ran my first dozen plus plants in FF and tbh it caused me nothing but trouble. I had a lot of issues that looked like what you're describing, even without adding nutes. Not sure if it was a case of a water retention issue, nutes being too much (the listed numbers are a minimum, not an exact), improperly composted, or whatever. Regardless, I won't be going back to it. I tried my best to make it work, even if for no reason besides it was what I had and I wanted to see if I could prove the people telling me it was not great wrong. But the difference using an actual organic water only type soil has been mind blowing. And tbh I tried a lot of different things with the FF; feeding their schedule, waiting the 3-4 weeks to start feeding, not feeding till they looked like they needed it, on and on lol. To me, having to keep trying a bunch of different stuff to try to even get the system to work the way it's supposed to is unacceptable, though it makes sense considering how many extra things they sell to go along with their soils and why would anyone buy them if the soil worked as a stand alone product, ya know?

Larger pots and ditching the plastic i think would probably help a lot. Roots need to breathe and with how heavy the soil is and how much water it holds I would not at all be surprised if things are boggy in the root zone.

I always appreciate your input. Thank you. I’ve been hesitant to look at anything other than what I’ve been doing but the deeper I get into this the more I’m starting to look into other things.

I’m probably gonna give organics a try next round. I’m gonna have tons of questions lol. About medium and amendment’s.

I haven’t topped any of them. Only thing I’ve done is removed one set of fan leaves at the 4th or 5th node depending on how tall the plant is. Just trying to get more light to the side branches. I initially thought some of them were stunted but I forgot there’s about 10 days between the oldest and youngest. There is still some leaf curl on some of them and I had to remove some of the lower fans because they were brown and brittle from overwatering. All in all things look ok but I think I much prefer topping to just letting the main cola grow. These plants are gonna get pretty tall. They haven’t even hit the stretch yet.

Did a light defol in this tent this morning. Went a little harder on the Mango Smile because it had really bad curled leaves while most of the others have recovered. I figured out why they were curled though. My light was to close I guess. I moved it up about 6 inches and in a day all of the other plants had almost 100% straightened out. Been having to water daily now which I expected in these pots. In a week or two I’ll do a much heavier defol depending on how much the smaller ones have caught up.
