Well technically you want the pointy part to go up. In nature the fat part will fall to the ground first the point will go up at least a higher percentage of time than the other way around. Then when it sprouts the root grows up at First turns around and goes down and that action makes the head of the seedling pull up in such a way that the seed shell is removed. Rapid rooters can be kind of spongy and difficult for some young roots to penetrate sometimes. So I would probably stick the seed in sideways, that's usually what I do if I have any doubts about viability or like I say a spongy rapid Rooter kind of thing.

Kind of looks like it goes in sideways in the Ronin thread, but didn't see anything specific about it.

What do you think of potting it as soon as it sprouts? Don't really have a CFL bulb that will work. I think I could theoretically just go straight to the pot. I see a lot of people just germinating the seed in the final pot anyways...

I put my seed right into the final pot, I just soak for 24 to 36 hours however long it takes to crack never longer than 36 hours. I grow in Coco so it's a little bit different than soil.

I think that bio Biz light mix that you're using is very good for young seedlings so you probably could go straight into your final pot. The benefits to doing that are that you miss any potential slowdowns in the rapid Rooter and if your soil is not too hot and I don't think the bio bizz is, you actually are going to get a head start.

Well, she's in the rapid rooter. These have some large openings so I had to push it down pretty far. Almost could see the seed still, but she's in there. Hard to say if it was sideways or upside down... I guess we will see in a few days! I'll squeeze out the excess in the morning.

Following this one...
I've been thinking about a similar set up, But I'll watch and see how yours works first...

12 ish hours in the rooter, squeezed out excess water... I'll check back in a day or so.

Been in the germination station now for over 30 hours. A little worried about how visible the seed is, but it looks like something may be happening! Alleviate my worries with the seed being so visible, the opening on these rooter is massive.

I've seen folks have problems in the past germinating on top of a Wi-Fi router. There's actually a bit of research out there that radiation from Wi-Fi and radio transmitters in general can affect how plants grow. For that reason I always put mine on top of the refrigerator even if it's a little cold.

On day 4. Things are looking good. Starting to see the second set of true leaves come on.

Curious about my cob light height. It's a 75w Cree from rapid led. I've got it roughly 30" from the plant canopy. Is this OK or should I back off. I have about 1.5 feet overhead the light to work with.
