Fast Buds 1st Grow, FastBuds - Blackberry & Girl Scout Cookies, 250w HPS - Wish me luck...

Ps. The Fast Buds GSC looks like the fast indica phenotype. I am currently growing 2 Fast Buds GSCs one looks like yours the other was much slower starting but got much larger and is way slower in flowering. It is more sativa like.

See an update later today in my signature thread.

Ahaaaa, this makes a lot of sense as I was thinking the GSC could even be chopped this week had I given a full flush earlier.... now just need that soil to dry off nicely...

If you would be kind enough to post the link for your gsc i would appreciate it ;0))

I did think about ph'ing but how on earth do you do that when flushing with 20l of water? The standard ph n my area is about 7.5 which I know isnt great but cant be that bad either, can it?

For the final feed I will ph for sure....

Yes, PH is really important and 7.5 is out of bounds! The pH scale is a logarithmic scale which means that for every one point of pH, the concentration changes by a factor of ten. For example, an increase in pH from 7.0 to 8.0 is actually a tenfold increase. The desired soil range is 6.0 to 7.0. If you are watering with 7.5 your soil PH has been rising all through the grow and if you don't test your water/nutes each time before you water you have no idea where it really is. My tap water changes throughout the season depending on the cities source - surface or well. last summer I had some 8.5 and this winter as low as 6.9. You should make your nutrient water first following the vendor's mixing order (which part first, second etc. it makes a difference) then PH adjust it up or down. Now when you water your plant to runoff test the runoff for PH and adjust your next watering to move this up or down in SMALL increments to keep your soil in range. So let's say your nutrients are at 6.5 and your runoff comes back at 7.0 next time you water set the PH to 6.4 to nudge the runoff down a little. Keep this up until the runoff PHs where you want it. Remember small changes at a time.

It really is not hard once you get a rhythm with your plants. I PH 55 gallons of water/nutes each week.

Do some research on ph there is a ton of information out there.

Day 55 - Back from my trip

Sooooo, it's been a good 2 weeks since my last post. I'm just back from a hectic trip and it's great to be home!!

While I was away the girls were given 1l of mineral water every 2 days as couldnt get my mate to feed properly so thought I would give an early start to flushing. Today they have been given a proper flush with the shower hose until the water dripped through clean and clear and I expect to cut both down in the next 14 days as I will wait for soil to dry, feed each lady 2l each of mineral water and chop-chop a few days later. Sound about right?

I have to admit though, when I came back, there were a lot of pale yellow and some dead leaves on the gsc, all of which would fall of the plant when touched but as you can see from the pics below, they are juicy resinous buds which a stench to die for... The combo of berries and cookies gives such a beautiful aroma, like wow.... Oh and theres a lovely diesel kinda smell coming from the gsc also which I love, but is that normal? The yield wont be great at this stage, im still learning but on the right path me thinks.

Good news!! I have my MarsHydro400 ready and waiting for my next grow. Theres not much point in switching from the HPS to the MH right now is there? Or is there....???!!!

As usual, your feedback is most appreciated :worship:

Hold on a sec bro.... You mean I should be sampling the run-off water to gauge the ph change of the soil in between feeds? It makes send I must say and I suppose you wouldnt suggest it if there wasnt such a benefit... Cant see how it will hurt me, though you just reminded me that I need to but calibration fluid for my gauge...

Another Q: You mention the order of mixing in the nutes.... Are you serious? This growing lark is sounding more and more like the science of baking, which I am actually pretty good at..... I have searched biobizz feed mixing order but dont come up with anything.... Also I PH only after I have mixed in the nutes... Should I be ph'ing beforehand?

Appreciate the help once again ;)

Hey bro looking alot better than my first grow congrats so subbed into the end then defo tag me for the beginning of ure next one so i dont miss a thing :pighug:

Yes, you should be sampling your runoff PH and steer your nutrients accordingly. Soil PH does not change as rapidly as hydro does but you still want to keep your eye on that ball. I PH my reservoirs every day!

I have not used Biobizz but you want to follow their mixing/feeding guidelines and PH at the point they recommend or after everything is mixed. I have attended several trade shows and investigated many nutrient brands and I firmly believe that they all will do a fine job if their entire system is used following their guidelines.

Ps. baking is a good analogy.

I am so like that. I cannot wait to start my next grow. I have decided to advance to Rockwool blocks with drip for my next grow using House & Garden to feed Dr. Krippling's Incredible Bulk. I will grow all 6 the same strain and mainline them with scrog to follow.

My biggest issue right now is that im limited on space. I have literally inches to spare on the top & sides with the 60x60x150 tent I am using and unless I wana kick out my roomie or find a new apartment, im stuck with this area.

I am not and dont ever want to be a commercial grower so it wouldnt make sense for me to lose the rental income just to have a bigger and more controlled growing environment. Plus I would defo get carried away with my desire to have as many different strains as possible...

Gonna load more pics tomo or Wed but it looks like the GSC is perfectly ready for cropping and I think I will skip the last 2l mineral water feed I had planned for her and will just let her fully dry out.... My senses die every time I open that tent zipper numnum num num num
