Hello,

Initially, I was gonna try & grow a couple of plants from some old ‘baggy’ seeds on my windowsill...I know, lol. No joy there thanks to poor planning & of course the famous British weather, so I decided to splash out (see above)!

You can possibly tell by now I’m not after an ‘Amsterdam’ style setup. I just wanna cut out the middle man, keep costs down & get a buzz from doing it for myself (with your help), so if it works it will be the best smoke I’ve ever had (...sort of)!

Having looked at loads of info on this site (& others), I not only wish to thank all of you lot who contribute, but wish to do the same to hopefully help, inspire & show others it can be done etc, etc (...’share the love’)!

I have read some quality books for reference etc, Marijuana Grow Basics (Jorge Cervantes) & Growing Elite Marijuana (Ryan Riley) which I recommend as they have a wealth of info & advice (I felt like a pro after reading them)!

Saying that though, I have quickly come to realise I’m ‘still wet behind the ears’ & will from time to time ‘desperately’ seek help & advice from you guy’s along the way.

Diary:

My 2 BioDiesel plants are now 2 weeks old today & I feel like a proud father!

I went a bit mad over watering them to start with (classic newbie error) & the first set of leaves curled right round...Thankfully I quickly realised the error of my ways & now only water them every few days...checking how heavy the pots are & seeing how dry the soil is first...priceless!

Also one of my plants had ‘sticking up’ leaves or ‘Bunny Ears’, that sent me in a spin but found out it’s healthy & reaching to the light...panic over (for now)!
Talk about over protective...& for the record, I ain’t having any boys ‘sniffing round my girls’ either...period!

Currently, I have the girls on a 17/7 light cycle (7:00am – 12:00midnight) & they are coming on a treat. I have 1x CFL (105w, 5600k) & 1x CFL (105w, 2700k) added from day 12.

Questions:

Q: I have lined the Wardrobe with foil on the matt side. CFL’s don’t produce much heat hope that will be ok, I can line with white paper if better, Any advice?

Q: My soil has nutrients in them (nitrogen, phosphate & trace elements etc) so will I need to add during veg, wait for flowering or just play it by ear if the plants look rough (leaves curling up or going a funny colour etc)?

Any advice, comments or ‘constructive’ criticism much appreciated...

DISASTER UPDATE (SOS) >>>

After taking pictures of my girls for my 1st blog I accidently KNOCKED THEM BOTH OVER !!!

sad-toddler-boy-600.jpg or rather... black-baby-crying-300x175.jpg

‘NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo’!!!

I carefully picked them up and re-potted them (I can’t stress how carful I was as I didn’t want to damage the roots any more then they have been).

On a positive note the soil was slightly damp and hopefully it allowed the roots to stay in a ‘clump’ & not get too damaged...fingers crossed. I was also pleased with how it had developed under the soil.
Now it’s a waiting game...will they recover or will I have to start again?

...I need a joint!

If anyone has any advice on what to do next or can tell me it will be alright, please do!

good luck! im sure they will recover, but may reduce the yeald a bit. ;)

Hi ya jonny!!! Glad to see your thread!!! As for the knock over, don't worry too much. As long as the roots weren't damaged much, it shouldn't be a prob, like Guerilla said, may produce a bit less but, it's a first timer learning curve!! I, also, had to transplant, but it was because I had a severe fungus gnat infestation and had to get my 1st out of that soil pronto. I think she is a bit stunted, but she survived. I learned from the experience and my 2nd girl is WAY better than my 1st!! Your girls are looking fine, just keep your eye on the leaves and growth. I got my closet lined with aluminum foil, matte side, as well and seems to be working out fine. I'm sorry about not having any clue as to nutrients, but this is also my first run and I had to settle for miracle gro, which isn't the best, but it works. My soil was nutrientless, so I started adding nutes at week 2 (1/4 the package recommended dose). Good luck and growing karma coming your way!!!!!

Thanks SlinkyKat,

I think they will be fine, your first plant is doing really well & like you said, it went through loads of grief & look at how she is doing now.

I'll wait & see if anyone else contributes some info etc, but thanks for the advice on the foil & nutes.

I think I'll leave my 2 alone for a few days to recover from their accident.

:gthumb:

Thanks GuerillaMonk,

Hopefully they yield won't be too badly reduced & my 2 recover ok...I've only got 2 plants on the go & was hoping for an ounce each plant (all being well).

Anyway, as they say 'Don't count your chickens'.

knocking ya girls over wont bother them to much mate
what are you gonna be using for filtration in the later stages bro ?
looking good so far

Ive got a jack in a shot glass thats fallen out more times than i care to remember

Nice one flub,

Thanks for the positive comment & advice.

I haven’t got a filter but the flat skinks of weed & I've been her a couple of years so if it ain't too bad won't bother...I haven’t grown weed before so unsure how bad the smell will be. If it is ridicules I will sort something out but I've only got 2 plants so was gonna play it by ear...

Do you think that is a bad idea?

Thanks Carbon,

I appreciate the comment & I guess it hasn’t done you no harm (dunno about your plants though), lol! :D
