Greetings one & all.
firstly, I've never grown autos before & I've never grown outdoors this far north before. I'm in Northern England & during summer the temperature rarely gets much above the teens (thats 60f +/- in American)... Except for last summer. last summer was ridiculously hot but most likely just a one off.

Basically, at the end of the season I'd like to end up with a minimum of 12Oz dried & I'm thinking I should be able to comfortably achieve this with 8 plants (1.5Oz ish per plant), right?
The issue is, having 8 plants in flower at the same time is gonna be pretty bait, stinking out the neighbourhood & difficult to hide when we have guest over...
Buuuuuut.... given that autos are done in 12 weeks could I not split the season up & do 4 plants over May/June/July then start another 4 off in July & run them until September? Only having 4 in flower at a time would certainly reduce the smell/risk but would the return on 8 plants spread out be worth it in this climate or similar to 4 plants grown smack bang in the middle of Summer?

I'll be starting them out in a cold frame. Don't have a greenhouse but could certainly knock a lean to together with some corrugated plastic sheeting just to keep them a little warmer.

I'll most likely grow 2 - 4 varieties. So far I'm looking at the "Royal AK Auto". Any other suitable suggestions much appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hallo, similar puzzle here.
In my experience no auto has ever been quite as fast as that outside. I always have to add 2-3 weeks to the growing times, maybe because outside the odd cloudy day and high garden walls mean I don't get full days of sun, and especially the first wave since low night time temps make for a slow start and I try not to let there be any plants left out by the middle of September (it's just too harrowing to watch unripened buds rot in front of your eyes), so I go with an overlapping schedule like: April-May-June-July and June-July-August-September. Can you do six at a time?

I've had great results with Dutch Passion, I recommend auto Ultimate and Think Big, but this year I'm growing all Mephistos for the first time. Only just discovered them a month or two ago, but I hear (from this forum!) they're the best. And I hear their Northern Cheese Haze has the lowest growing odour.

Good luck!

Roll on summer!! Just ordered a mix pack seedstockers so any sativa I'll be using for an outdoor run hope the weather's as good as last year I'm from NE UK..

@Muonymous Thanks for the input! yeah, I was wondering if the estimated times would hold true in colder/cloudier climates. I didn't want to start anything off last month as it seemed a bit early but we ended up having quite a few nice days here in the NW. I like the look of the think big & ultimate but have suggested grow times of 14 & 13 weeks. Add a couple of extra weeks to Finnish off & thats a pretty long grow. I really like the look of Mephistos. Was planning on trying them for an indoor grow later in the year! Think I'll start 4 off in the cold frame this month & maybe another 4 at the end of next month.
Good luck!
& yes @kenny kush fingers crossed for this summer being like last!

I'm gonna go for a blackberry gum auto for outdoors n maybe critical auto not sure mite even put up some posts as I've never posted pics lol

@kenny kush I ended up ordering 3 x Royal AK auto & 3 x Royal Critical auto. They both seem suitable for colder outdoor climates & the estimated yields seems good although that's obviously calculated under ideal conditions which Lancashire isn't :D
We've got a cloudy week ahead of us so think I'll hold off & see if some bluer skys come along. Don't want those seedings stretching too much right off the bat.
What medium are you growing in? I'm hesitant to shell for out for expensive purpose made stuff like BioBizz but at the same time have read some horror stories about nutrient burn etc with standard garden centre mixes..

Mate I go to asda I use nothing special at all.. 3 60ltr bags for a tenner looks like horse shit wasn't to sure on it at first but now I swear by it.. Be using it in the garden plants as well. I've potted four seeds amnesia critical blackberry gum and a orange skunk ryder all auto gonna stick two outside n start four more seeds off. I'm from teesside so weather hears shit also..

Not done much outdoor done a durban poison photo bag seed last year in the garden as tester for privacy more than anything. I did get some bud return not much tho think the houses over the back spot lights interfered with the night cycle didn't herm but looked like shit lol.. This year won't have them problems with autos and they'll be facing the sun from morning till night only thing this house has going for it is the garden lol..
