IF I’m doing this right, This will be where I document all my grows ( if I remember to post). I’m in the process of getting my tent set back up, now, But seeing how my ph pen and timers grew legs and walked away, It’ll be a day or two before I have any “real” pictures, So here’s one of my little helper and a dirty fabric pot under the lights I’ll be using.
The blue light is an old amazon 6x cob light that was billed as 2k watts, even though the drivers are 50 watt lol. The other four are 65 watt autocobs from cobshop.
The cat is a stray I found as a kitten last month. Think he’s broken because he sounds like a lawnmower anytime he’s around people.
Once I replace my ph pen, I’m going to be growing in straight coco coir, with megacrop 1 part, bigfoot mycos, and kelp stuff from the people that make megacrop.
I still have a pair of Autocobs, I keep them for backups and emergency lighting. I have a 500 watt UPS and can keep a plant lit for a few hours if the power goes out!
I’m honestly not real sure yet. I’ve got a lot of seeds, But I’m leaning towards a Fastbuds LSD25, or maybe even a supposed Lamb’s Breath auto that my friend gave me. As a musician, The Lamb’s Breath piques my interest since that’s the strain Bob Marley preferred according to rumor. As a stoner, Mephisto’s AvT has my eye.
The last grow I had with the four autocobs alone gave me more larf and soft, fluffy nugs than previous grows, So once the plant has a couple nodes I’m going to switch on the amazon light too. I’m not big on buying “the next big thing” when it comes to my growing equipment, So once I get the money for a new light I’m going to scour the internet to see what documented grows show the most improvement in yields, While keeping wattage down.
Got a new timer from a farm store, And found my ph pen, So things should start moving along here soon. I’m trying to figure out what I want to grow out of the 15 strains I have seeds for. I’m shooting for size and potency. I’ve got Auto Critical 2.0, and Autopounder, two or three Alf#5 variants, two of Tobe’s strains, AvT, Og Kush, Lsd25, auto Blueberry… I really don’t know what to start with, Because I love all of those lol… BUT… I should have one picked and soaking by tomorrow lol
So. Since this is my first grow on the new site, And personally, In over a year, I figured I’d go for some low hanging fruit when it comes to size. If I remember right, The last time I grew this, it filled a 3x3 space and was about 4 and a half feet tall. If I remember right, This strain put my Source Turbo and my wife’s hair straightener to work for about a week straight. I don’t smoke anywhere near the amount I did the first time I grew it, So “not being strong enough” won’t be an issue. Hell, I try to keep my tolerance sorta low by only smoking two or three times a week now.
Oh yeah… This will be in a 4x4 tent, in a 7 gallon pot of coco coir, being fed megacrop 1 part (I’m lazy. Shush.) with their Kelp and… I think it’s called Big Foot mycos. (The water soluble stuff that turns your water black.)
…if you haven’t noticed, I get distracted a lot and usually run a day or two behind when I say I’ll update. So, Next update will be if and when a baby pops up.
The seed was sitting on bottom, With a little tail starting this morning, So I went ahead and dropped her into some coco. These seeds aren’t exactly new or fresh, So it either speaks of Auto Seed’s quality, Or I got lucky yet again.
…She went in the coco Wednesday afternoon, And now on Friday afternoon, We have a baby.
I’m actually surprised it popped at all, Because I’ve had that pack of seeds in the back of my fridge for a couple years now, And didn’t do anything but give it a 24 hour soak. I’m going to let her enjoy her solo cup until her leaves are as wide as it is, Then she’s going into the seven gallon fabric pot of coco.
(Keep in mind, I’m typing some of this out in a way that beginners can see and understand if they come across this journal.)
Fridge storage doing its job there. A couple years in the fridge and that seed still popped with just a 24 hour soak. Auto Seeds quality showing through for sure.
Seven gallon coco with megacrop is a forgiving setup for getting back into it. The 1 part keeps things simple and the coco buffer gives some room for error during the stretch.
Welp, She went into her big pot this morning, Because my kitten decided she’d look better on the floor, on her side, Than she would in her cup on the windowsill. She had gotten leggy, So I was planning on putting her under the lights, Anyway… Just not while doing it to get her to survive lol
Just in case she survives it, I fed her a light feed of mega crop and kelp. (light as in a gram per gallon, roughly, With a dash of big foot mycos mixed in for good luck)
Interesting note, though. Instead of a taproot shooting straight down, She had a 1/2 wide and deep “root ball” forming. Normally, a plant that’s a week old would have a taproot and some minor side rooting going on. I’ve had 6-7 day old seedlings try to shoot a taproot out of the bottom of the first cup before. I think that one was one by the un-named breeder or one of Bomb Seed’s strains. Hopefully the mini root ball is a sign that the plant wants to take over her pot lol. We’ll see here in a day or two.
Looks like she survived the “emergency transplant”. This is the point in growth that updates will slow to at least once a week, So I’ll see ya in a week unless something neat happens.
Welp, It’s been a week or so… And here we are, Watching a plant grow. First picture was taken this morning, 2nd picture was taken yesterday. (This is more exciting than watching paint dry, I swear.)
Making decent little progress. I noticed she was leaning towards one of my autocobs this morning, SO I went ahead and kicked on the big light.
She got a feeding of megacrop mixed at 2g/gallon, with the kelp, ph’d as closed to 5.9 as I could get.
So this girl is a day shy of being three weeks old now, According to my post of her popping up. It’s been 8 days since my last update. You wanna see vigor? Look at this girl lol. She’s as wide as her 7 gallon pot now.
I raised the lights a little, So she’d stretch a little more so I can train her a bit earlier on. Today’s feed was 3g/gal mc, kelp and the water soluble mycos stuff. Moving on to daily feedings this week.
A week later… And she’s loving the bondage still. Feed is around 4-5g/gallon of megacrop and…Honestly, midrange of what it says to give on the bag of Kelp stuff. I went a little heavy last time, and have a little tip burn, So this feed will just be the megacrop. Her pot was dry just now, So I’m moving from once a week feeds to twice a week, now.
This is before today’s bondage and light trim session (got rid of any leaves on the very bottom that weren’t getting light)
I’m running out of room to tie things… I noticed a few pistols starting, and that she’s starting to get a little fragrant, SO this may be her last lst session.
Bumped up her base feed to 5g/gallon of megacrop just now. Poked my finger in her coco (her grow medium, ya’ weirdo), And it felt like I didn’t water her two days ago. I noticed she’s got a bit of tacoing going on, so I raised her lights 5-6", and shut off the dehumidifier for now. I’ve got it set at 65%, And it was saying the room was at 50%. Other than the tacos everywhere, She’s praying and looks happy to me.
Almost thought I was gonna lose her there for a day or two… My megacrop turned to sludge in the bag for some reason, And what started as tip burn on the tips turned into yellow leaves. Ordered a new bag, And fed her as soon as it got here. No more yellowing, and she started stretching. I think I’m done tying her down, now, too. She’s almost 2’x2’ wide at this point. ALMOST. ((at her widest points, I mean, If I were to tie her down again))
So with that being said, And since this is a general grow journal that’s not breeder specific, I’ll pop another seed or three in the next few days. I want to experiment with a tote of soil I mixed up a couple years back that’s a mix of promix (the stuff with the strawberries on the bag) some no name mushroom compost, and… I think a bag of dollar store potting mix. May have thrown a tub of half dead nightcrawlers in there too. I don’t remember now. It definitely has a strong “dirt” smell haha.
I also want to break out my old autopot setup and see what kind of monster I can manage. With coco coir, Not soil, Of course.
If memory serves its strawberry fields soil, booster compost something..I actually had some of that many yrs ago playing with various soils,and that one..had strawberries on the bag..but back then had a name or something somewhere..dunno about today or newer ish bags..been a minute
