DIY DIY Peltier Res Cooler

refresh page 3. I just added pix to the last post...

Yeah this peltier is the 40x40mm actually 72Wmax version. The flow rate through the manifold is too fast and the water doesn't stay in there long enough for good heat exchange. One step at a time though. I've got another power supply (PC type) to tie in the fans and peltiers and then I can run the pump off this one and use the variable voltage to slow it down.

Are you sure it's not working right? I looked up how a Peltier works, and it transfers heat from one side to another that suggests to me that it is functioning as its designed. But I could be wrong.

Yup, that is correct but only half the hot-side is functional. The "left" half of the heatsink is warm while the other half is noticeably less warm. The heatsink is centered so the heat should be evenly distributed and it's not. Not unusual to have a dud with cheap chinese peltiers.

Oh ok, I must have skipped over I line the fist time I read your post it is clearly in there, slowing your flow down will definitely make it run more efficiently.

Thanks Pop!! As soon as I get the last valve and connectors, I'll finish the RDWC conversion and get the grow crackin'. The dragon eggs I dropped were "no-go's". Never did pop out, so I gotta try again.

That's awesome!
Is 62 degrees about the ideal rez temp? I have no idea but this make me want to set up a RDWC system for a plant or two I was always told keeping your rez temps down is that biggest pain in the ass with hydro plus it satisfys the geek inside.

Between 65-75F is the ideal range. Also, helps keep fungus at bay. That and a little epsom salt with Dutch Master "Zone Gold" and all is right in the res!
