Dr Who - its interesting that you used the phrase 'poorer conditions'. I realise the conditions aren't ideal in UK, but as far as UK goes - they don't get a lot better! The day temps are about 23/24C and night temps are 12-14C, they get sun most days (although we have our fair share of cloud) so IMO, the conditions aren't ideal, but I would't describe them as poor either.

You might be getting those kinds of conditions where you are, but my greenhouse is routinely 3 or 4 degrees cooler than that (I got a cheap data logger to see what the temperatures actually are). We also often just have a heavy covering of cloud, although we have been getting the odd sunny interval recently which really makes a difference. Enjoy the sunshine...

Dr Who - how late is too late here in UK with regards to harvest and running into fugal probs? I sounds like you might have a few grows under your belt so could offer me some advice as to when and how with regards to potential fungal issues? My crop are due in early - mid Sept

Hi Somerset my friendly neighbour sound sounds like your grow is coming on leaps and bounds ? ive still not worked out how to upload pictures on here so could you give me a rundown on how you go about this please ?
you,ll never believe this Somerset but today after putting my 11 day old girls out into the sun i went out to check on them to do my daily growth dance around them and as i went out to the flatroof i seen a fkin blackbird flying off and as it did it dropped the baby girl it had in its beak on the ground !!!! it had pulled it right out of the pot after chewing it to shreds and it also had savaged 4 others !!! i couldnt believe it i was and still am a bit pissed at this black birds antics after all it is mid summer and there are lots of nice ripe fruit etc about but it had to go for my baby seedlings !!! so just a small warning for you to out for birds on top of all the other pests we have to deal with lol
lets hope the sun keeps up eh mate as i guess its pretty similar to what your weather is like to mine ?

Hi Somerset, I'm sure it's got to depend a lot on your local conditions, and different plants will probably also show different susceptibilities (although I doubt that many are truly resistant). It's my feeling that it tends to start when a spell of good weather is followed by a spell of cool damp weather. Partly I think more sun means chunkier buds, which are more susceptible. I would guess that the end will come some time later in August around here, but you may well get a extra few weeks where you are. Here's hoping for a bountiful harvest.

I`d say your girls are susceptible to mould after 3-4 days of wet, cloudy weather.In the UK we are never further than 70 miles from the coast (approx), therefore we tend t`have high humidity (unless we get that rare couple of weeks of perfection!). Bigger and more compact the buds, bigger the chance of mould occurring. So if growing outside, I would always use pots. Then at least, you can move your girls to a protected area if bad weather approaches/occurs. If you`are planting straight in ground, then ya have take your chances...

I'm suddenly aware, as they start to put on bulk/height, of how different the two strains are: I can see really see a difference for the first time. The Yeti's are well into bud but putting on no height or lateral growth (almost like they are sulking) The Blue Himalaya is stretching and fattening beautifully but it only just has pistils forming. It feels like its going to be a bigger strain than the Yeti, but I thought it would be the other way round from what I've read.

that yeti still looks good, though a bit short,

Them himilayas gonna be nice

make sure y ou cover if it is getting too much moisture. try to keep the precipitation off of them. Might help against fungus/mould.

I say you are not doing too bad for your stage of experience. Keep it up. It always gets better.

Do some research on what each plant needs at what stage.

HELP!
So, my friend that gave me the seeds in the first place came round last night to have a look and was expecting to see some serious bud action. He seemed surprised at the ABH being too lengthy and showing little sign of buds and concluded "they're probably not ABH. To be honest, they look more like supers, the seeds probably got mixed up somewhere" (which is why I ended up with them!) He then suggested "they 'might' even be super cali haze, but I don't reckon you'll ever know for sure".

And at day 39 with just a few pistils, I think he may be right.

HELP!

So firstly - do they look like 40 day old supers grow outside by a novice? They are at the taller end of 18" - 24". The last post I did here with photos shows the 'ABH' a couple of days ago full height etc.

I need advice as to how to proceed with the grow please. If they're likely to get big (which I suspect) I am thinking I might prune the tips and encourage a bushier plant because my garden is overlooked by neighbours so low and bushy is best. Is this a good idea? Will I sacrifice much smokable bud? Will the plant produce more? At what stage is it too late to tip prune? If I'm going to do it, I'll do it now before they put too much into budding. i can;t seem to find a lot ofn the forum about supers - where do i look?

You could try bending them over and tying them down. This tends t`make em look less obvious to the uninitiated! If you`ve got nosey neighbours (I know all about that btw!), you want them t`look as un-Canna-like as possible! I`ve never topped/trimmed my Autos`, but some have...not me though. There have been some issues with seeds bred by Stitch not always autoflowering, and there might even be the odd member that would say that a super auto is simply something which is sold as an auto but flowers according to day length. Let's hop that you don't have these issues, but if you feel that you are you could always consider trying to force flower them. I would imagine that it would be a bit trickier for plants in the ground than in pots, but I'm sure it would be possible. Another option is to simply hope for the best, they might still flower soon enough and quickly enough to get a harvest from them.
