I just noticed Lowes has the bales of Pro-Mix HP on sale through August 20 for $15. See this link. That's pretty inexpensive. Hopefully that's a nationwide sale.

asking if they got it..

Go to the product page (<<link) and select your store. It will tell you (upper right side) if it's available for "Free store pickup." You can choose to "change store" which shows all the stores in your area and the actual inventory (count) of each store.

You can even complete the order online and the bales will be held at the Customer Service/Returns desk.

Wish our Lowe's had it, 90% of their crap this year has MG in it. I Found some Lambert's Promix though, and I'm quite pleased with it.

Bummer not avail at any of my local lowes.

I have a bad feeling Lowes is discontinuing Pro-Mix HP and this sale is their "clearance." My local Lowes doesn't carry it anymore. They have a product in a blue bale which is "Canadian peat moss" but doesn't contain Dolomite. (I think it was Fafard's, but I forget). I asked the garden manager and he said they stopped carrying Pro-Mix because their distributor can get this other product now.

I assumed that was a store-specific thing, causing me to look online for it in nearby stores. That's when I saw the sale (and found stock at a nearby store).

Hopefully I'm wrong. But, it could be a reason to stockpile. (Or, begin to learn how to re-create Pro-Mix HP using whatever that blue bag of peat was. ha).

Just learned[1] Lowes is discontinuing Pro-Mix. It's being replaced with "Premier Peat Moss." It's in a blue bag. It's a lower-grade product made by the same company that makes Pro-Mix. I was told only nurseries, grower supply houses, etc. are allowed to sell the high-end Pro-Mix product. The mass market gets this stuff.

[1] Went back to Lowes today and asked about what I thought was a green bag. It's blue. That's when the Lowes guy told me.

The blue-bag "Premier" is a fine, almost powdered cocoa consistency. That's supposed to be the less-desierable product resulting from the processing of peat. No perlite, dolomite nor myco.

I use Lamberts Pop and I'm happy w/ it as a base soil ... :tiphat:

No ProMix near me either ...
