Greetings all!!

This is my very first grow journal. I've been growing indoor in soil for about 4 years now and want to expand my grow knowledge a bit. I came across this forum and was blown away by what people are doing with autoflower plants at the moment and decided to hop on the bandwagon Woops

Enough of the lovey dovey stuff, lets get technical!

The primary light that I will be using is a Aequator 150w Photosynthesis lamp.
http://led.aequator.at/led-facts/
In addition will be 4 x 18w T5 fluorescents vertically in each corner and I will hang 4 x 23w CFL's.

Let me save you the quick math, that's a total 314w consumption! Anyone who has combined both types of lights, please chime in on your thoughts of what temperature fluorescent bulbs to use. I'm planning on using 6500K during vegetation and 2700K during flower, no mix and match.

I had a hard time finding a decent bucket and didn't want to buy one online, so I settled with what I found at my local corner shop. Its a 12L (3gal) food-grade grey bucket with a snug lid that has a perfect size hole in the middle for my 8cm net pot.

It was evident to me that the bucket must be light-proof, so I decided to wrap it in some extra diamond foil I had lying around in the basement. All the small nooks and crannies were sealed off with alu-tape. Here's a small pic collection of the process:

As you can see, I am trying to keep this as low budget as possible (the LED I acquired for free "pher Wiggle" ), but everything else is just some recycled equipment/furniture I have lying around.

As for the growing space, I brought this beauty upstairs and put her in place. I'm sure you can guess where the plant will be! The shelves are perfect for storing all my nutes, air pump, etc.

Tomorrow I'm going to give it a nice clean and start making it reflect

The beauty of the whole operation will be 1 single Pandora from Paradise Seeds. I spent a few hours talking to the owner of a local grow shop, which specializes in making their own DWC/hydroponic systems. I told him I wanted to try Think Different from DP but he recommended me this instead. As he was curious of my project, he told me he would be more than happy to germinate the seedling for me with his special method at a price I couldn't refuse, FREE! It's going to be ready to pick up on the 31st, so until then I have enough time to get the cabinet running.

A few more things I'll be using:

  • Tetra APS100 air pump
  • 10cm disc airstone
  • 100mm extractor from old 400w grow
  • PrimaKlima 160m3/hour carbon filter
  • Hy-Pro hydro A/B
  • Advanced Hydroponics Root Stimulator

Wish me luck guys!

Welcome, and awesome cabinet! I'm subb'd for this grow. :Sharing One:

Most people are using 5 gal buckets (easy to find in the us). Do you guys think that my bucket will be big enough for my project?

I just picked up the plant and the nutrients. Gonna mix up a batch and throw her in soon. Stay tuned!

I plan on starting at 1.0 EC (500ppm). Is this too little, I see some like to start it higher. Any LED growers willing to share some info on that?

PH: 5.66
Temp: 20.0
EC: 1.1 (540ppm)

Is what she currently sits in!

Ill put up the current pics of her, when my battery is charged tomorrow

The only problem I seem to be having is keeping the PH stable. I use sulfuric acid to lower it. Should I use a nutrients brand PH- instead, made for hydro? But they all contain sulfuric acid as well.

I also put in my humidifier from my other tent so that the little lady can throw off some roots. My other clones have developed nice root ball and will need to transplant tomorrow, I think they can survive will a little lower humidity than the seedling.

I recycled and old RVK100A1 air extractor I had sitting in the basement. Problem is that it is too strong for the small space I'm using. All the fan controllers I checked at grow shops were about 35- 200€! I wanted to keep this low budget and creative, so I went to an electronics store and bought a "power controller". It can handle motors up to 0.6A. My extrator is rated at a considerable less amperage. It ended up costing me 19€ and even came with a dial and all wired up. I threw on an inline switch, but in the future will mount it in a housing with a thermostat connected so the extractor is always changing to keep the same temperature. I hooked it all up and it works like a dream. Have it set now on about 40-50% and the extractor makes NO noise.

I'm just wanting to suppress the noise of the air pump somehow, i think I have an idea, just gotta buy something on monday.

I'll buy a carbon filter next month when necessary, saw one at a store for 35€.

Here's some pics of the fan setup and more of the box work. They were taken the day before yesterday.

Enjoy and take it easy all!

Day 9:
Still struggling with the PH...

Right now its at 5.76 and the EC is at 480ppm.

I got three little roots sticking out now!!! I just hope i don't screw it up from here. What would you guys recommend for feeding for the size that shes at. Think I'm ok?
She's pretty dark in color, suggesting shes not getting enough nitrogen, but i think that's due to the fluctuating PH.

Feel free to chime in anyone! Here are some pics from today! I'll keep the fluorescents off for 1 more day. I got her going at 24hrs light at the moment, will also give her 4 hours darkness tonight and keep that going from now on.

Nothing wrong with that PH. and your ppms seem to be working fine. Ke her running right where you have her!

Good to hear! Thanks for the input!

Day 10:
The PH has fluctuated a lot less last night, only raising to 6.1. In the morning I lowered it to 5.5 and in the afternoon was 5.9. Now I'll just check to see that it stays around 5.8 as possible.

I imagine that the 4 hours darkness cycle improved root growth. Today she has not just 3 roots, instead almost 15 or so

Humidity is pretty good at 45% and temps at 24.8C°

I'll update some pics tomorrow! Night all!
