Hi Boys and Girls. Quick question from a new indoor guy. I have a Lumiteck dimmable ballast. Hope it is spelled right but I think you can figure it out. Anyway it is 1000, 600, or 400 watt I believe. Now i have heard both things. 1- use a 1000 watt and dim it if you want less. And 2- if on 600 use a 600 watt bulb. If set to 1000 use a 1000 watt bulb. Now could someone tell me the true story. Thanks everyone.

Happy Trails.

hey Widow Maker, you can do it either way. I like to put the correct bulb in but it will fire the 1000W bulb at 600W without any damage at all. That is directly from the manufacturer because I asked the same thing when I bought mine. They said firing the 1000W bulb at 600 was what it was made to do.

Correct as always! I noticed a diffrent spectrum when dimming my 1000w.

Well thank you guys. Mr. Nam. Have you used it for a complete grow? You mentioned the light spectrum looking different. Think it will make a difference? Thanks again.
