Since this is a RDWC system, there is a res so nutrient levels will be the same. It's basically a series of individual 8 gallon buckets tied together and with constant circulation and bubbling. Closed loop.

Yes, the AN nutes are more expensive but from what I've seen using them in soil, they go a long way. I've seen people adding some tap water back into their RO before to help buffer it. But I understand adding some cal/mag should do the same thing. Res changes are also supposed to be less frequent, every 2-3 weeks instead of every week. I may end up trying other nutes later on but like the ease of the AN to get started with.

really the thng i am only concerned w/ is that all really have to be used on the same nutrient levels
i don't dislike dwc the results are great in size and i don't use full ro water and it doesn't spike as much for the ph
the next turn around i was looking at the ph perfect as well a friend uses it and says he only lets chlorine disipate in the holding res and get bubbled never even checks ph
really i rarely check it either you know that but in the long run it sounds really plug and play w/ a great buffering it is pricey but you really don't have to factor in ph time if your water is half ok
he uses half r/o and half city also

Glad to see RETIREMENT setting in now if you can just hide out in the expansion enough from the mrs. over the next couple of years

I've used my BS 240 UVs for veg and agree, the results have been fine. JM just got a couple of the veg models and someone else here is using one, so I'll be watching to see how they do. Since all they are going to be used for is veg, I thought the veg ones would be the way to go. The veg plants will be on the floor and the mothers on a shelf above them, so I'm going to need separate lights for the mothers. I really don't think I need to spend that kind of money on lights for the mothers, but am still unsure exactly what I need for them.

Very nice setup Muddy :smokebuds: My 240 UV was amazing in veg for my photos, I don't think you would have an issue with your Moms and clones using the UV's. Double duty lights . I am very interested in hearing about the Veg/HO models though if you decide to go that route. Happy Retirement buddy

Well... after 4 or 5 days under th BS 240 veggers... I am already very pleased.... if they continue in this fashion... 'll b scrambling to switch all my gear to LED ASAP...

Hey that Tek lamp may prove well for a mother or two. They're compact and pack a punch with the pl55 bulbs. Cheap too. Just a thought my man.

In the older days switching from metal halide to sodium high intensity really worked well. Of course heat was a problem. With LEDs having the choice of veg and flower just makes a lot of sence to me. I love it when things continue to get better.

Actually, He Whose Name We No Longer Speak recommended this system to me. I had a hard time finding any documented grows but did finally find a couple over on Bubbleponics. Yields look exceptional. They say the 8 gallon buckets will grow a 2-4' plant, the 13 gallon ones, 4-6' plants. I don't have enough width in my area for the 13 gallon system, plus want to turn them over faster. Based on my experience growing photos outdoors, I'm thinking with the right strains I should be able to pull around 12 oz. per plant off of a 4' plant.
