Hey guys. New grower here. I am on day 22 or 23 of my northern lights auto grow. I've been doing a lot of research about VPD, and decided I would give maintaining a good VPD a shot. After calculating my VPD, it was WAYYYY low. So I decided to buy another humidifier. Originally, my humidity was 40% in the grow tent, with the temp being about 75-82. Anyways, today I put my new humidifier in the tent, its the EXACT same model and everything as my original one because I really like the quality. Well long story short, 4 hours of having the tent sealed, and my humidity has only increased to 43% Only 3% increase, from doubling the amount of humidifiers. Now I'm no scientist, but that doesn't seem right. So my only ideas to what could be wrong are; My Hygrometer and thermometer combo are in the wrong spot, or the maximum humidity I can reasonably get in my tent is 43%. I don't believe the second statement to be true, because I have seen the humidity as high as 60% before, but I move my Hygrometer and thermometer everyday when I check the plants PH. So my question is, where should my thermometer/ hygrometer be placed? I use the probe that was provided with my ac infinity inline fan, and since I started this grow, I've had it at plant canopy height. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hmm... which humidifier did you get exactly? Got a pic?

Take a pic of your set up.

Also, in a couple of weeks when plants are in flower ur gonna want lower RH. I live in the desert and temp/RH is always a problem, so I choose to sacrifice VPD in order prevent mold possibilities due to the needed RH as a result of my temps being elevated (78-85). My understanding is keep RH below 50% in flower.

What is your extractor fan up to? Is the humidifier in the tent, or in the lung room? If the fan is moving a lot of air, your humidifier will have a hard time making much difference. Which humidifier do you have? :goodluck:

This seemed to be the problem. Totally went over my head. My extractor fan was set to 8/10. I now have it set to 3/10 and my humidity has shot up to 55-60%. Much thanks!

This is what makes AFN so great.
Word. Also, our collective willingness to challenge conventional wisdom (and it's nefarious sibling Broscience). Plus all the cool people.
