Tent Questions

Hi all...I didn't see anything specific on tent set ups and so forth...

So I'm going to sticky this thread for any questions and answers that you members with tents, can answer...

Also, if you have any pics of how your tent is set up, please post them...Pictures say a 1000 words...
Basically, as far as pics go, mostly looking for how yours is set up...Not so much about the plants...

Thanks for your cooperation and I hope this thread gets the attention that new tent buyers, like myself, can gain some info...:peace:

That's the same size I have and I usually keep six plants and that leaves me room to water and move around. You could probably get more in there if ya wanted to.

I am thinking about purchasing a tent that is 3' x 3' x 72" How many plants in 3-5 gallon pots could I put in there without decreasing the yield? I also plan on getting a HO T5 lighting system, but not sure how many bulbs I want to go with, so any suggestions would be helpful and greatly appreciated :)

Hi Sam I think four plants would be ideal for that size tent..And as for lights you want to get as many as you can fit in there. More light equals more bud.

Hey everyone - so, ordered a couple of beans today for a new grow but the zip on my tent is busted. The puller with the rails is clean off, anyone know if this can be repaired? Sewn back on perhaps? The tent still closes, I guess I could cover the front with something to prevent light leakage but any suggestions are welcome.

3x3 is going to be harder to find T5s for . The common sizes are 2 or 4 foot in length . I have only seen 3' T5s a few times , and they were single bulb fixtures .

Have read several people asking how many plants for "x" size tent . It's hard to say what would be the best number without knowing strains or grow styles . As an example , I have a test tent that can either run 32 plants .... or 6 ....... or 2 . all depends on what I am growing and how I am growing them . I can do 32 photos in 2 liter hempies with a week or less veg . Or I can do 6 pots of autos ( or photos , depending on strain and veg time) of a few different strains I have on hand . Or I can do 2 super autos in 5 gallon containers ( as well as 2 photos , strain dependent etc) .

What I am saying is , one size does not fit all . If it's the first grow with a set up , don't try to max out the tent . Better to do a little less to get a good idea what kind of space the strains you are using will take up and work from there . Keep in mind that hydro tends to grow quicker and seems to get bigger than a typical soil grow . Crowding a tent beyond it's limits doesn't gain you anything .

i've got my 80x80x160cm secret jardin tent in the loft/attic with 400w Hps, my house has built in A/c and i was thinking of disconnecting the duct over my bedroom and connecting it to my tent as extraction, i shouldn't need carbon extraction that way as it gets filtered etc i'm not sure how strong the A/c is though so any suggestions on intake levels etc would be appreciated, do you reckon i'd get away with passive intake or not (i doubt it as the A/c is designed for rooms not tents lol). thx in advance.

Obeeee, kaybeeee there Smokey. Welcome to AFN.
The vent in your bedroom blows air into the room and won't extract air without doing some serious re-engineering. And you WILL need a carbon filter if you grow inside. Them girls are stinky! Best bet is to get a fan and filter for extraction, the let the intake be passive. Add a small fan or 2 inside the tent and you will be golden

Hey thx for the welcome and the help, as you can probably tell, i was baked when i had that bright idea lol, late night stoner logic doesn't always come up with the best ideas lol, don't know why i thought it was extracting, Doh! lol
Just wondering though (another bright stoner idea lol) could it possibly work the other way round? could i force air in and vent passively? say if i attached it anyway could i use the A/c to circulate O2 instead of fans etc and extract passively through the vents? cuz it seems to have a nice through draft when attached due to the ducting that i'm using for exhaust which leads out through the top vent through ducting straight out my roof.
I know when you use intake theres negative air pressure issues and so on, with it attached there is positive air pressure created (sides blowing out slightly like balloon lol) would that be a problem?

So, currently setting up for my first grow. Just got some dinafem white widow auto seeds. Planning on doing one plant to start with. I have some smart pots and a pro-grow 180 LED on the way. I have a fairly large closet, maybe 12' by 6' (approximate). I have central air and heat. I'm also not too worried about stealth as I live on a 3 acre farm that I own, but it's fall right now, so too cold and not enough sun outside right now. I wasn't planning on purchasing a grow tent, as the closet is in the center of the house, so no windows, no outside light, and the temperature and humidty will be kept in check. Can I get some thoughts on this?
