Just finished building the sensors and controllers. Boy did I underestimate that work!! Oh well, it's done now and I won't have to do that for another whole week, lol...Yup, I just ordered myself another batch of sensors, relays and D1 mini's...So, in the foreseeable future all the pots will have their own watering aid.

These are the solenoid controllers. These "smart switches" are all Tuya controlled, which means I'll have to find a way to reprogram these or replace them by 'older' models which do have the pins to reprogram the device... Anyway, in the Tuya app they work and all the solenoids do what they are made to do.

All fifteen sensor boards are built and soldered. The only thing to do is to coat them in some protective layer.

I glued the D1 mini edge to edge against the capacitive soil sensor. And while this is a reasonable secure bond, I would like to add one last protective layer which also functions as a fortification. First I thought about epoxy, but according to the interweb this would interfere with the probes ability to measure...
So what comes to mind is some clearcoat varnish, which is liquid enough to get a thin layer, while protecting the electronics from water and providing stability...Any thoughts from you guys is always welcome, even if it's to say you don't know

Hey growers

A lot of work got done today, but then I have something to show for it
I transplanted six ladies that made the cut...and a couple of other greenhouse plants...

Then the wiring got ran around the perimeter of the greenhouse and connected to an old computer psu. One monitor got connected to the wiring so it got 12V and the solenoids got connected to the el-cheapo garden hose from Action...via some black lined tubing.

After a valve check I connected the other end of the solenoids to some tubing which got layed towards a pot.

So four plants each have their own valve. Now to get it controlling and reading the value of the soil sensors...Oh and three more controllers to go...Think I'll go at it after diner...

On another note, I found two males and one female today when I checked the plants that where left behind in the tent.

The female has been removed from the tent and transplanted into a 7 gallon pot in the greenhouse.

On the left side, the two males. The plant on the right hasn't showed sex yet, but I doubt it will take long until it does. The two males will stay inside the tent and if the third plant turns out to be female it'll go inside the greenhouse, but won't receive a big pot, but rather stay inside it's 3.5L pot.

Inside the greenhouse everything is going great. The plants are showing some signs of heat stress, but they'll overcome that. I've been lucky so far as we've have grey cloudy weather the last days, which opened up in the late afternoon...

This is the female Mephisto Wedding x CMD which just got transplanted

The original Maphisto's Wedding ladies got a big 20 gallon pot to roam their roots.

Hey growers and breeders


It's been a busy couple of weeks prepping everything for summer to come...So here's something to ease the mind while reading this post



The ladies are doing well and starting to cope better with the hot climate inside the greenhouse.

Ladies are receiving 750ml/7gallon pot per day and 1250ml/20 gallon pot per day

The soil looks dry, but beneath the green plate the soil is nice and dark.

On the table are the 'leftovers'. These ladies will be used for breedin' and will get the full dose of male pollen to tickle those pistils

The Mephisto Wedding x CMD is already showing pistils. That's how I knew she had to be moved to the greenhouse. She's further on now, so it's more pronounced

Next up...we have the two males inside the tent. These guys are amidst a whole lot of new seeds germinating in different kinds of medium.

Both males are showing loads of flowers in the making. Lovely how a canna grower can get happy from male plants, lol
