DAY 11
Things seem to be happening as they should be.
I've consciously made a couple of changes this grow, to try and simplify things, long term.
Obviously most notable [for me], is
starting the grow in the "Drying" tent, instead of the larger "Grow" tent.
It just seemed to make sense for seedlings, and is a hell of a lot easier to control.
Secondly is
the lighting.
Whereas in all other grows, the first light the girls have seen has been a single 600W HPS, this time I have opted for
a 250W 6500k CFL.
It just made sense, and so far, seems to be working well.
To be honest, I have struggled with it, because I'm used to MORE light.
Doesn't mean there is not enough light, it just means I'm used to more.
But I'm not the focus here; I'm not the one growing, so my preferences mean fuck all.
Finally - and this one is probably not as noticeable, I've really backed off on
the watering and nute schedule.
Previously, I would have been a member of the "small amounts and often" club.
As a result, I feel
I tended to overwater the babies.
I have habitually always been a "everything but the kitchen sink" nute kinda guy too.
That's just my honest appraisal of my performance.
This time, I'm pretty much leaving them alone.
Watering is maybe every 3 to 4 days.
Tough love.
They want water? They need to go look for it.
Periods of wet and dry.
The tent environment is stable - very stable.
It's in a good growing sweetspot for them; ~26 °C, with 50%RH ... so they really just need to be left alone to do their thing.
Best thing I can do for them, is just get out of the way.
In terms of nutrients, this time I'm going to lean towards minimalism.
House & Garden Root Excelerator is my weapon of choice, from the outset.
I love this shit - it is my "go to".
It's not cheap, but a touch of this [tiny amounts needed] goes a LONG way.
Tap water is pH'd to ~6.3, or as close as practically possible.
My tendency is to favour the Advanced Nutrients pH Perfect A+B base nutes.
Depending on other factors, this may or may not be the option here.
In other words, a good base, and then as little as I can get away with, to produce what I want to.
Less is more is where my head is at this time.
Photo time.
