Grow Mediums Your ideas wanted!!!! Trying to find a solution for automated fertigation of a perpetual tent. Autopots v Octopots v Handfeeding v ??? in coco.

I have just bought a box - will give half the soil tent the bio tabs and the other half the stuff from Ecothrive and see how it goes

Cool! I'll try to keep up with your thread, but tag me once in a while

As a new grower - what is the advantage of coco over hydro systems like DWC? From my perspective it just seems like difficult expensive DWC that everyone complains about and needs a ton of help solving. Thanks to all the vets for all the knowledge!!

Both methods have their advantages. DWC can deliver mega harvests when done right, but if done wrong you get nothing. With coco you still have the buffer of the coco that can still save the day. If you want it super easy go with BioTabs. You just need a good lightmix soil and water, that's it

If you would be really cheap you would opt for a recirculating system. Drain to waste costs much on water...
Recuperate the nutrients measure pH and EC, adjust and feed again. It's that simple...
Apparently if you get the feeds just right the waste (runoff) is minimal and my other plants (tons of chilies) can use the runoff.
There is a variation of this called drain to anywhere where you can choose to recirculate or dump the runoff, the crux of the system is in the top cover distributing the water evenly during feeds

Thanks so much, makes sense now! I didn't realize that you had a greater chance of catching/savjng issues with coco.

I've got a few fabric pots with soil goin and two 5gal bubble buckets goin. haven't had an issue yet with DWC and the plants are like from another planet! but first two bubble buckets ever of all time and just now entered flower.
