DIY Your DIY ScrOGs!

Quick question, I never understood the purpose of the Screen could anyone please explain
Thanks!

screen... really more like chicken wire or something like that... a surface to tie down to.. usually flat
here's an example where you can see the 2" square fence mesh they used:

it also makes it possible to have the most uniform light distribution on the buds... because you can maintain an equidistant canopy.

Also a good way to have a tall plant strain in a short space and avoids the many wires/strings of LST is what I hear.

Just so you know from the start this isn't an attack, I'm just trying to help you out. The way you are using that screen with that plant isn't doing a thing for it. It's slightly spread out, but nothing one piece of string can't fix. Scrog is a tek I wouldn't use on autos. Reason being it's designed to flip to flower once a strain you're familiar with fills the screen to a certain, even point. While it's easy to do this with a photo it would be exceedingly difficult to fill every square inch of the screen with an auto. A good and productive scrog should look like the one JM posted. Every inch of the screen should be evenly covered with buds that are just about even in height.
Again I'm not trying to knock you down, just want to make sure you understand and get the most out of your tek.

Hey folks, here's a thread for any ScrOG's you've made yourself! I'll start with some pictures of mine :] Home made out of wood and plant twist wire. I was thinking of getting some rollers fitted on all the corners so I can simply screw and slide the screen up and down if I need to :] Better than string and metal tape!

I take it these aren't auto flower plants being ScrOGed. They don't get too tall. Anyone use an auto for scrog?

edit:
Just saw J TaNg
Dutch Passion Super Auto
Mine where photos ,autos were used to fill spaces as i vegged out the screen with photos utilising the free light,

Personaly i think some of the larger autos do quite well up against photos on the ScrOG. Think different springs to mind, the only thing i would do differently the next time is lower the ScrOG to between 6" and 8" that way you can get more of the lower bud on the ScrOG and also help to fill out the screen better. I think with a little more experimentation it could be improved :2cents:

A couple of recent examples

My own three plant Think Different grow

And Taviddudes 5 plant Think Different grow. And by far the better.

With all these scrog pics flyin around its got me curious. I have a question tho-how the hell do you water your pots under those screens with only 6"-12" clearance? I understand a flood/drain table or dwc setup, but pots have to be hell to water and do runoff checks.

I use a one gallon pump/spray bottle that has a wand... they come in various sizes and they aren't expensive... one gallon size is lighter and easier to maneuver.

I use a 2 liter jug to water mine, 12" gives me plenty of room to work. Just to clear things up that's 12" from the soil not the floor. I also have a drip tray under the pots to capture my run off, which i collect using a syringe. Hope this helps :peace: Hazy
