This is my first year trying a couple autos. 3 or 4 weeks into flower. Is it common for them to begin losing fan leaves this early?

Was afraid to top. Should I have, and if so when? Looks like I’ll just have the single colas.

No worries of course since backed up with my regular photos.

Thanks for helping an auto newbie.

Does the plant have any branches? That looks like a flat stem plant.

Kinda different growth pattern, I think one of the Australian grower's had some single stem plants. Maybe it is a response to too much iron in the soil. Your soil looks a little red to me and so did the Ozie's. The plant looks like it could use a little nitrogen.

@Waira what do you think about this?

The flat stem mutation is talked about on the strain hunters Morocco episode and If I remember correctly(I smoke alot so might not, lol) it originates from the Afghan landrace. It grows 4 leaves at each node instead of 2 and has a hollow paper thin stem. But op is wondering about the deficiency not any possible genetic mutation....

Our soil is indeed high in iron, but not toxic levels. And it would be unlikely that both plants exhibited precisely the same genetic mutation, so that is out. Back to the topping question. I always top my photo period plants, but was told not to top the autos, so I didn’t. Should I have topped the autos?
