If one was to grow using soil, which kind of container is best? Tall like a five gallon bucket? Or maybe wide is best, like a large storage tote of equivalent volume.
Maybe it doesn't matter. I feel like the room to grow laterally might be more important than lots of depth in the container. What do you think?

To me growing indoors vertical height would be a consideration. Then the volume question comes into play. Most of my plants occupy about 4 sq. ft. at harvest time. so a 12" tall pot would easily accommodate a 10 gallon pot at 18" diameter. My back would not do that. If you want to grow water only then 7 gallon will make it for most good soils. 5 gallon is a popular size for active fertilization.

I personally like the wide bags for not only Cannabis, but most plants & trees I propagate.
I run 7G Vivosun bags & a 20Mendocino Gluesniffer hit the edges of the bag in 10 days after transplanting from the Solo cup. She grew into the top dressing right to the surface & chowed the whole grow.
As a Noob, I was fascinated by that.
