Why Mephisto?

Thanks for the comments and beautiful pics! I was watching lighting stuff on YouTube last night and a guy said that he reached out to Mephisto and they said they use 24 hours of light the whole life. I’m on 20/4 but now considering 24/0 when I drop their seeds.

That would be another can of worms. I run 18/6 on everything nowadays. But that’s just me, always enjoy playing around as it helps to find your way.

As I mentioned I find Mephisto grows to be enjoyable, and such. And generally consistent. But not the end all be all, in case I implied that. I can certainly find the Mephisto ultra fanatics (especially on Reddit) a bit of a turnoff a lot of times.

Great point. That's why so many of their premier cultivars (CQ, 3 Bears, SS, FS etc.) are the launch points for so many good contemporary lines (I'm throwing Daz in there).

I think I've grown 11 different strains of theirs and I have 2 going right now that I haven't run before. Nora ton but a pretty good gauge. They've always been worth the grow. I totally agree their marketing and stuff is great and everybody is using their stuff now. But there's really nobody else selling f5-f7 autos and all of them are spot on with the descriptions. They're definitely not the only good breeder around, and probably not even the best currently, but they're certainly not all hype either. And it is a real thing that buying direct is on the cheaper side of seeds. So, the fanboy stuff is ridiculous, but you should definitely grow some

There are other great breeders out there for sure and some real fire. I really can't say there are better overall breeders, but they are catching up............key word is overall.

It's an easy recommendation when someone asks who's seeds to buy. They are consistent.

The only 'hype' I see comes from 'fanboys'. Like in racing, you have people that will defend a shop or attack another well beyond logic. Add canna to it and you can see how it can get outta control.


Funny thing. Ya never see anyone start a thread about "Mr GreenGenesm Is it hype?", fictional breeder, but a cool name,:smoking:
No one asks that about the #2...ect....breeder.

Sorry to JoeBogs but this is just one MORE thread asking if Meph is hype......among many posted before. Grow your girls out, do a documented journal and get your cultivator tag. You can then test breeder's seeds and explore other breeder genes and make your own conclusions.

Thanks for the reply but I don’t give a shit about “hype”. I was actually asking what I would expect that’s so different from these ilgm seeds such as do they yield more? Easier to maintain? Very consistent to description? Just prettier to look at? Im brand new so I wouldnt know one seed from the next and have no clue why one would be so highly recommended. I mentioned I have 15 seeds and buying more Monday so I have no need to waste everyone’s time here to ask if it’s ”hype” Have a great day.

That’s not gonna get you far here. We’ve all replied and given you our opinions trying to answer your question. If you’re content with ILGM seeds then keep buying them. I myself wouldn’t waste my money on them. I can get seeds sourced from the same place they get theirs for $1-$2 each. They’re gonna grow you out decent smoke, depending on your skill as a grower.

Your best bet is to just buy some Mephisto, run them along side your ILGM seeds and see what happens.

It’s all gardening. Sometimes people do better with some plants/cultivars than others.
My last plant was my first Meph; a Double Grape. It was a disappointment, but I know it was just unhappy with me… most likely.
BTW; I popped a Where’s My Dog & it’s vigor is awesome. I grow on the cheap & vigor is a top priority no matter what type of plant or cultivar.

That pic I posted earlier in this thread was double grape. I got some really high quality bud and trim from it. But you’re right. It is not gonna be the same for everyone.
