I was down at the local Ace Hardware a few weeks back and saw this soil mix. It looked pretty good so I picked up a bag. 1.5 cubic feet for about $9.
The ingredients are pretty much what I always used when I made my own mix. It does have some bark, which I'm not fond of, but screening it through a piece of 1/4" hardware cloth took care of most of the bark. It pH to 6.8 in the bag. I added some extra perlite and filled some 3 gallon pots for Sumarai Jack seeds I'm putting outdoors. I watered the soil at 6.5 and after a week they are reading 6.2. As the soil dries it should move up through the pH range nicely. I prefer an organic mix outdoors over soil less. The nutrients in the soil feed the plant during times of extended rain where regular feedings aren't possible due to the wet conditions.
