Hi just about to head to the local hydro shop, was wondering if anyone got an opinion on bio bizz bloom & grow vs plant magic's oldtimer bloom& grow?
Both the same price, is there any difference? Am also using bio bizz fish mix if that makes a difference..

Any help appreciated!

I've used both and I find them to be virtually identical. PM nutes are as good as Biobizz at least.

You may benefit from getting the PM oldtimer for one reason.. and that's that it's made in the UK for our water supplies and I did find the ph to be a bit more reasonable after mixing, so it'll have some edge over the Biobizz in that regard.

:peace:

Fair enough, will go with the old timer then! much appreciated!

IggidyBiggidy,

My sincere apologies if asking this question is considered Thread Jacking. I am very new to forums and was not sure how to link Bigbuddha’s comments to a question.

BigBuddha,

You mention the PH changing after adding the nutes. Is it essential to check the PH after adding ?

yes. absolutely.

Oh dear.. this is a dreaded question.. but I'll say this:

This debate often leads to an argument between ph'ers and non ph'ers so I'm happy to continue it in more detail in another thread on PH'ing, but the compressed version of my answer is that - scientifically speaking - not everyone NEEDS to PH adjust (because of their specific nutes/water supply) but some do. It's highly recommended to ph adjust your nutrient solution 6.3-6.5 so that plant is able to abosrb all the nutrients from the scale. But, is what you ph the fiuid to the same as what the soil ph will be after you add it? This is one reason it's a long debate.

There's a whole host of different schools of thought on the PH issue and even more complicated issues to consider if it's to be truly effective, but if we get into it here this thread will turn into a giant PH debate :D.

Right, one may not need to "adjust" but one always needs to check after adding nutes. That's not a debatable question.

checking doesnt neccesarely mean adjusting. but man if u get behind on ph it can be an absolute nightmare. lockouts of all kinds do your self a favor and check it regulary i had the problem with my last grow and ill never make the mistake agaiin..... EVER. NOT EVEN IF THERES A FIRE...( step brothers)

Right, one may not need to "adjust" but one always needs to check after adding nutes. That's not a debatable question.

On the grounds that there are many folks who fundamentally say that ph adjustment is not necessary and say that there's no need to ph check either.. it's always going to be debatable. Some growers think the whole ph debate is farcical because it's never occurred to them that they live in a perfect tapwater area where the rest of us don't. Seriously, on my last weed forum the entire PH debate was banned for a while because it was causing so many people to fall out!

I sit somewhere in the middle on it because I don't NEED to adjust if you consider my specific setup, media and tapwater etc, but I do it for the obvious reasons of knowing what's going into the pot each time and minimising harsh ph fluctuations.

So you and I may agree on that point and both keep on top of our ph management, but there are so many others who'll tell us were wasting our time worrying about it.

:peace:
