Hi everyone!

It`s nice to be back after a while. I wanted to ask around a little, which high power (500w+) LED fixture do you use and why? At the moment i am thinking Gavita 1700e.

Thank you for your input.

What are you looking for in your light? Efficacy? Waterproofing? etc. Budget?

No budget per se, as long as its worth it. I have been weighing between Gavita, Fluence and Chill LED.

GrowlightAustralia is another to check out hitting 3.0umols and waterproofing. Their spectrum covers 390-800nm so one only needs far red for initiation at that point. Imo, they have the best lights available.

Gavita's newest lights are nice, ChillLED is definitely a good choice.

I just switched from HPS to Aglex M400 its a big light in size. 6 x 6 veg 5 x 5 flower. They make a 6 bar 600w and a 700w. And manufacture alot of lights for other brands. They have two North American warehouses so fast shipping. Comparing price vs performance I thought it was wroth a gamble to buy outside the Big 3. My racks are 60 x 60 in the photos.

Been using autocobs from cobshop.net for a couple years with great results and still using them. Recently upgaded a 2nd tent to HLG 350R that uses their diablo boards and like them very much so far. The far red seems to produce plants that resemble and smell like outdoor a bit more. At least so far in my experience. Only finished 3 plants with 2 more nearly complete.

After spending way too much time on way too many forums researching lights, I finally ended up going with Kingbrite (on Alibaba). I know it's a Chinese company and all the opinions around it, but based on everything I have read, they seem to be the best bang for the buck. I got the QB288 version with Samsung LM301H leds without the red lights along with 2 strips of QB11 (each strip has 11 Cree XP2 leds of 660nm and 730nm combined) each drawing 25W, so the full setup will be around 280 to 290W. This is for a 2 feet by 4 feet grow area.

An interesting factoid that came out during my research: if you get just the white leds, the panel has 576 LM301H leds driven by their 240W Meanwell driver, but if you opt for the panel with 660nm leds, the panel has just 504 LM301H leds and 16 660nm (Cree or Epistar) leds, which means you are losing a lot more of white light for a little bit of red light.

The advantage of going with a separate red (660nm) + far red (730nm) panel is that you can control it independent of the main QB288 panel and you end up with 40 to 50W extra draw when you are running it. I was thinking of getting the UV panel too (395nm), but based on what I have read so far, LG leds which Kingbrite provides aren't that good and you might be better off going with a fluorescent lamp at this time - UVA (320nm to 400nm) has the least negative impact to both humans and plants, so safest to keep them on for longer durations during the last few weeks of flowering. UVB on the other hand is still up in the air (way too many opinions not based on strong data) and knowing very well that it is orders of magnitude more harmful to both plants and humans, best to stay away from it for the time being (this is strictly my opinion, not fact :) )

Good luck with picking your lights!

Some people have referred to Mars Hydro. I checked them out but the interesting part was that the pricepoint is basically the same compared to other quality lights.

Hlg 600 rspec with a 30 watt uva light bar is what I’m running in a 4x4
