You only need the test if you are going to use your tapwater. If you buy jugs of distilled water from the store you can just use their standard formula. I think it's 0.88 here per gallon at the grocery store and much cheaper for the large 5 gallon water cooler bottles. That's the easy way if you don't want to test or don't want to install a reverse osmosis system in your house.
