When Are Your Seeds Ready to Harvest

the darker ones that are completely formed the green i don't know if they will grow and white ones that aren't fully formed are duds

I agree.

Green seeds aren't ones you can sell but nothing wrong with trying to hatch them. White ones feed them to the birds. The mice like all of them. I put mine in a small jar or pill bottle with a top with air holes to keep them from molding. The top is necessary for me cause I got mice.

I wonder if anyone has squashed up seeds for pot seed butter?

i put mine on paper plates for 1-2 weeks then into a baby food jar with lots of rice to keep from molding

Rice works well especially if you are shipping them. I like silica gel packages. You can put your used pkgs of silica gel in the oven at 200 degrees F for a few hours and it dries them out again.

Just got done trying a new method. Essentially I tried getting a few female plants pregnant pregnant early in life. Like as soon as the first white hairs showed up. Then, they were left alone and later reintegrated back into the main grow room. (After several weeks, several soaking sprays and lastly being blown off with a fan) All the seeds ended up being on the very bottom of each bud and there were lots of them. This way, all the seeds have time to develop and the top portions of the bud still end up being smokeable product. Pretty good product at that.

Kind of a best of both worlds scenario. I got a picture somewhere showing what the buds look like with seeds on the bottom but I have not been able to find it. Will keep looking but I am sure everybody gets the idea.

Oh btw, I store my seeds in a covered container in a refridge.. Maybe I should try putting some rice in with them.. I think that might be a good idea! Live and learn!!

I love new things. I used to do the one branch seeding trick by sexing them with a paintbrush. Sounds like fun but isn't really. Now I just do the whole plant and plant a couple others for the smoke. Why cause it is easier and I am lazy.

If you are keeping your seeds in the fridge adding rice isn't necessary. I suggest drying them out for about a week before you put them in. I use a food dehydrator but others use cheesecloth over a bowel or a jar with holes in the top. Anything to keep those damned mice out of them. I think they taste wicked good to mice. After they are dried storing them in the fridge is a very good idea either in a small jar or pill bottle.

Don't forget to label them really well if you have more than one type. This is especially true for a guy like me who can't remember what he had for breakfast. I have to keep a white board beside the phone to write down any messages. If I write them on a piece of paper I just forget about them or lose the piece of paper. I could blame old age but I never had a good memory even when I was young.

Hi.
I have a 250 watt MH and a 250 watt HPS. Normally i use 100 watts per female but this time around i want many thousands of seed from 2 or more females but this is my 1st seed run and i don't want to spend the juice on a 600 watt HPS set up when just a 250 will do.
If it's just an MI5 seed run can i achieve many thousands of seeds with just 50 watts per plant or by even using weaker CFL?
Also, i've been told that MI5 outdoors can take up to 16-18 weeks compared to 10-11 weeks indoors. Can this be right?
Also, got 10 MI5 regular seeds from short stuff but have heard TWO different points regarding seed runs. One says that one cannot continue with countless future seed runs with my 10 regular seeds as the gene pool will eventually weaken thus the seeds will slowly decline in vigour and strength but i have also heard that short stuff seeds are f6 or f7+ and providing i only use the finest n smelliest to continue further seed generations then i should "breed em hard" (End of quote)
Whose right?
And the biggest question, i have been told that someone here on afn has a link to an illustrative MI5 seed run!? As i'm planning an MI5 seed run such a link would be perfect for me.
Heard it was on the "bedroomgrowersbible or some name like that but after googling for ages i can't find it. . . ..
Apologies if i'm not following the correct protocol / forum to ask these questions but . . . . .
time is of the essence .
Hope someone out there can help me.
A big thank you and hug in advance.
Peace, clowns, and great grows!

I should do a lot of things but I'm old and the days just keep getting a little shorter between the second cup of coffee and falling asleep in front of the TV.

Miss ya Nelson.
