New Grower What seeds to choose?

Top man thanks for replying I need my info to make confident decisions.....

Thanks

So you'd go with the idea dropping the lights for 4 hours a day now until finished? I've just been checking them out and I think by next week (or in a few days) I'll start to see some pre-flowering. Should I hang on until they begin to flower and then drop? The money isn't a problem as it's LED it costs hardly anything extra, or not much extra I care too much about the bills.....

I've moved the lights up I can tell they're getting taller from where I tied down the plant I'm LST'ing, the branch has curled back up towards the light so must mean it's pulling up.

Wish I had a hps in there too to help stretch up but I'm going to be patient and hope I get a stretch when they begin to flower.

So they look good? Not too short, to bushy? Never grown them before so anythibg anyone has to say will be appreciated

Thanks people

no problem man...
one thing I will stress though is make your own decisions... no finger pointing on this site

@epenguin will tell ya...
the extra 4 hours isn't really all that noticeable to the plants... you should see some of the 18 hour plants on this site..
or @912GreenSkell 's outdoor 8hour monsters lmao..
its just saving you 40 hours of light life every 10 days, ... more to keep you growing with them longer...
ya man they look good.. all plants are beautiful.
HPS is more a flower bulb... MH is what you want for veg.

I tend to notice a stretch hit, then it shows signs of sex, followed by a lil more growth, then stacking, tiny bit more growth, then the final swell <- - - -if that makes sense...:pass:
just relax and scan the forums
hit up the search bar with your strains

its early, I'm on no sleep, :coffee2:

Thanks for the advice mate. I will go with my gut instincts and lower to 20 hours.

I know they can go under 24hrs of light, but the main reason I want to do it is because it's only natural for the plant to have some periods of darkness as I know plants need the darkness to enhance growth, but - autos I know are different which is why I'm asking as many things as I am.

Glad to read the word "beautiful", it's put my mind at ease. I actually think mine have shown more growth than a lot of other autos on day 28, that I've seen online.. Just as I keep mentioning I want them taller to yield more.

Worth mentioning again my tent only stands at 160cm so I need them to be medium sized, rather than dwarf size. My baby's (3 of them) have all shown sex so hopefully, a bit of growth now - still growing new nodes everyday, just crazy how short spaces in-between.

My last grow filled a 1.2x 1.2x 2m tent growing only one photoperiod plant and it filled the fu*ker to the very top, with HPS. But the gaps between nodes was massive compared to these little compact beauties!

When should I stop using roots excellorator in the mix? And should I always water my autos so there is run off in the trays? Or reduce how much I give it as time goes on, or more?

When I get a chance I'll pull the plants out of the tent and take some more pictures that will show everything (colour etc) much clearer

Starting to stink up now too carbon filter will need to go in soon!

@trailanimal <--- see what I did there @ (insert name) now he can see)
he's a prime example of natural environment for auto's..
what is your natural sun schedule trail?

I need them to be medium sized
you should check out some of the lst or hst or scrog threads i'm sure someones made a tutorial
perhaps @budelee but he's on bed rest...

one photoperiod plant and it filled the fu*ker to the very top
sativa?? they get big

And should I always water my autos so there is run off in the trays? Or reduce how much I give it as time goes on, or more?
I'm gonna go with ... do what ya know.. because honestly, you'll find a little bit of everything around here..
flushers, non-flushers, run off, no run off, water every couple days good, water little bits daily..
if I could remember the people i'd tag them maybe someone else will.. but scan the threads and you will be open to the many different quirks/styles of our users..
I personally like to let it dry out before I water.. and do it in slow bits..
I let the plant tell me.. try an catch it before it droops.. and naturally as it gets bigger it will consume more.
so gradually increase the amount of water and possibly the concentration of feed.
as for the roots stuff.. don't think ive used it.. bag /bottle should tell you.
but... roots are always nice... i'd use it threw the veg cycle.. and cut it out towards flower so I can use that for P-K boostage.. don't want my water being too crazy on the ppm or e/c...

once again there is another user I cant put a name to that seems like a perfect match for you lmao..
they allow their plants to sit in their run-off to absorb it..

for future reference we do live interviews in this location a pretty cool thing to check out

Top man, really appreciate your input mate. Excellent. And yeah. You are basically right, just find my own style and stick to it. What I'm doing now is giving me good results so far ( based on you calling them beautiful ;) ) so I must be going okay.

Yeah. @A-Train I think. Or A Doc, I'm shit with names too - but the advice was sound and I've followed it and the LST plant is looking great.

I can also tie the branches down if growth exploded when they begin to flower. Think my Diesel will start to flower any day now.

Yeah it was a Indica dominant strain but sativa pheno... The first out of the batch was about 90cm tall, the other about 170cm tall!!

I do the same as you then in regards to watering, but I ask because I can tell these plants are drinking more than my photo's*. I'm making 4ltr mixes and sharing it between 3 plants and I do that every other day now.

I've got some old-timers PK nute to add to flowering stage.

Your advice is as good as anyones so keep an eye on my thread please my mate

Great website with loads of information and friendly users!

Welcome to our playhouse @Notaclue! I live N of the Arctic Circle, so this time of year there is no darkness! I grow in a shed greenhouse attached to the S side of the cabin. The sun cycles in an arc around the horizon giving 10-11 hrs direct sun before swinging around the cabin to the N. When sola swings north she goes behind mts 5 miles distant and cast us into shadow for 3-4 hours, our "night", lol. The sun is very intense here, like high elevation at a temperate latitude. the atmosphere is thinner at the poles. I'm with @mowhawk warrior(why doesn't this tag work for mo?) when he says listen to the plants! This really is THE learning curve. Time and experience, your understanding grows with your plants.

Cheers guys, great stuff to read. I am massively against Facebook, Twitter, Instagram as I just hate spotty faced spoilt teenagers who think it's a platform to become famous from..... Well, that's why I don't use em... So nice to have somewhere I can get a little bit out of dedicated growers ... As one thing I've learned about cultivating is that it's an amazing hobby, I goto the football everyweek and watch my club but to me this is no different... Just I can't talk about it lol!!

@trailanimal - and I thought it was difficult enough living in the UK with our crap weather!! Seriously man, that sounds a pretty hectic environment to be in... But I bet it's beautiful to look at with a nice big one in your mouth.

How do you end up living and growing weed in the artic circle Man?? I'm intrigued!!

Great well yourself and @mohawkwarrior (tag his long ass name in one word mate) haha are here to watch over me now.

Plants are definitely pulling up slowly. LST is looking very successfully. diesel starting pre-flowering... Everything good apart from I'm completely out of smoke until this is ready... But then again it doesnt do anyone bad to take time off it, but another 1.5months isn't nice... I messed up my cycles meaning I had to start from nothing!
