HI I HAVE BEEN GROWING A WHILE, BEFORE AUTOS WERE READILY AVAILABLE, I WAS JUST WONDERING WHAT LIGHT SET UP AND ROOM SIZES PEOPLE USE ACROSS THE WORLD, THOUGHT IT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO SEE IF THERE IS A LOCATIONAL DIFFERENCE/TREND, IM UK, I HAVE ALWAYS USED 400/600 HPS, MORE THAN 1, MY GROW AREA IS ABOUT 5M X 2M WITH 40 FEM AUTOS AT ANY ONE TIME, AND A 1MX1M CUPBOARD RUNNING A 600W AND 12 NON AUTOS ON 12/12, ID BE INTERESTED TO HEAR WHAT OTHERS USE AS ID LIKE TO CHANGE/REDUCE ELECTRIC BILL, MY PROBLEM IS, I NEED THE HEAT FROM THE HPS! IN UK ITS COLD, I GROW WINTER TOO, MANAGED 10 THIS WINTER AND IT WAS -10 OUTSIDE TILL 2 WEEKS AGO! WOULD BE INTERESTED IN WHAT LIGHTING YOU GUYS ARE USING AND WHAT SIZE AREA IT WILL COVER,ANY HEATING/EVIROMENTAL CONTROL AND LOCATION TO GET IDEAS AND TRY TO BUILD A PATTERN, I KNOW IN THE UK AND HOLLAND HPS ARE MOSTLY USED ALTHOUGH HOLLAND IS CHANGING AS THE GROWS ARE LEGAL THERE SO PROPER ENVIROMENTAL CONTOLS CAN GO IN WITHOUT THE NEED FOR HPS HEAT ANYMORE! THANKS GUY!

Hey mate .im in the uk and I'm running led + a small t5 in a 2x2x5 tent.to keep temps up iv been running the lights constantly. My temps have been late 60s to mid 70s and my plants have grown well.

hey mm, welcome -10 c is tee shirt weather in maine! we see -20 f. inwinter i run two led lights a 240w panel and a 135 watt panel and two cfl's in reflectors. my tent temps all winter about 65deg. f during the day, as low as 56deg.f at night. on 20/4 cycle worked quit well all winter.

I run all 240 blackstar LED panels, my current area is about 4 x 11 foot but i am only using about 3 x 5 foot of it

thanks guys keep it coming, seems like if i want to change light for my size ill need a hell of alot and enviro control, stick with the high leccy bills! 50 autos under led in my size id need a mortgage to set up! has to be in roof, flat.but big big roof!

I'm in the S.E. US where the winters are pretty mild and the summers very hot. I started out with HPS but had a lot of trouble controlling the temps so switched to LEDs. I run a small space heater in the winter to keep the temps up.

You're right, LEDs would be too expensive to buy to cover your big area. They seem to work best in smaller areas with good reflection. You might want to take a look at the new Quantum Bad Boy T5s. A 16 bulb fixture will cover a 4' x 4' area. They don't give off near as much heat as HPS so some supplemental heat might be needed in the winter but they will decrease your A/C costs in the summer, as well as same on electrical costs year round.

I dont have a problem with ac, in summer i open the botton 6 inchs and above light, roof is around 20ft up so with a fan it circulates well, and the gabeles are open to outside!, think ill pop across the pond, its a 25min flight and look at some dam sret ups, same longitude and climate as east england, think ill have to create a room in a room, with enviros then find a suitable lighting for 2m x 10m!
