What is your seed germination rate?

Had a problem, recently, then got the brother mendels seeds with a card. Card states “keep away from a warm solution of 1:1 h20:h202 water/ hydrogen peroxide… I soak in shot glass and most since then are popped in 12 hrs

I'm sure I've said this a few times....
Been at this growing, in some manner, for over 50 yrs....from seed/soil judging in FFA to seed processing in the 70's/80's...(legal I must add).
Guess it's just a bit of an advantage to grow up and live in a large farming community where we have kinda evolved into a simple way of doing things.
Marijuana seeds are no different than any other seed and no more mysterious either.
In 20 yrs of growing weed, auto and photo, there's no better trick than moisture and heat in the right place at the right time. Not rocket science. It's kinda funny sometimes at the problems popping a seed has become.
That being said, my germ rate has been 99%...seldom ever have a dud and fully expect a 100% rate. We all get a dud sometimes...
Personally, I prepare a solo cup of medium...BB light mix in my case, moistened and compacted slightly so the see won't burrow further down than the 1/2" when placed and sprayed. Place a dome on it on a heat mat and smoke a doob. 3-4 days later, it's up. Of course, misting along the way.... For germ & seedlings, I always use DI water only for 3 weeks.

My process is still evolving, but the last and most consistent approach is:

thorough scratching up in sandpaper tube (maybe 30 seconds or so of vigorous shaking),
~3 hour soak in ~30C mix of 50/50 peroxide (3%) and distilled water,
into vertical paper towel holder, wet with DI water, on heat mat set to ~30C,
into peat plugs on heat mat tray with humidity lid at 30C as soon as tap root emerges,
into either final pot or insta-transplant pot once the tap root emerges from the bottom of the plug,
And if an insta-transplant pot was used, into final pot after leaves get past rim of transplant pot.

I try to keep the entire process at ~30C, including getting the final pots up to temperature before planting in them. Not the simplest approach, but it works for me so far. The main advantages for me are that I can get rid of duds before committing a final pot to them, and the smaller initial plugs/pots make early watering easier to control. I find a heat pad beneath a seedling tray with a transparent lid to be a convenient and effective way to control temperature and RH through the whole process pretty much until ready to transplant from the insta-transplant to the final pot.

As the thread demonstrates once again, lots of approaches work well for different growers. In my limited experience growing and watching other grows here, it seems to me that the most common source of problems is temperature not being warm enough.

Happy germinating peeps.

Ive had exactly 3 seeds not germ. I squeezed them and they turned to dust.

100% rate since late spring. I just throw them in a shot glass of warmish water which I keep in a kitchen cupboard for 24-36 hours, then into their final pot. Into the indoor 4x2 under a little humidity dome and done.

420 fast buds BDM
just about 48 hrs later back in the game,
Not doubt going with the SOOTDAWG method for them vertical tails next round.

9-9. I put the seed in a shot glass of tap water with a drop of hyrdrogen peroxide.

Of the ten seeds I soaked so far for my current grow, I have 100% germination. All were tailed in 24 hours, and the two started earlier are now growing happily in their final pots. The rest have been in their peat plugs since yesterday afternoon, and will be head's up either later today or tomorrow. Sadly, and happily, I am going to have some culling to do.

Hey All,
Trying not to all of a sudden go into a germinating slump my last 2 attempt's were strikes,
with that being said my first 8 germinating attempts were a success 5 for 5 from crop kings / 3 for 3 from seed fair.
The last 2 strikes were from the same batch from Seed fair I had Success with only difference both seeds sank instantly or,
I'm thinking the lighting and temp difference in the room was the factor. I'm using the paper towel method & try to stay @ " 80 % " or above :smoking:

Next UP
Blue Dream matic seed from 420 fast buds I just placed in a shot glass.

So what is your Germination rate ?

Both times I tried paper towel I had bad luck...last time was 2/3 weeks ago with the Midwest Widow testers.....Don't know if it's non disclosed chemicals in the manufacturing process or what...Going back to 24/48 hours in a cup.
