Up till now, everything I've grown under the BS have been autos. I'm just starting my first photo grow now, plants are a week and a half old. Based on my experience of starting photos indoors for outdoor planting I expect they will be to the size I want in about 4-6 weeks. Two are indicas and 2 are sativas. I'm expecting the indicas to probably double in size, the sativas, maybe tripple. So I don't want the sativas to get much over 8-10" in veg and the indicas about 15. The 9 plants I referred to were autos. With the photos I think 4 will fill my space up nicely.

Yeah I just googled led girl... how sad. I have liberty haze and cluster bomb. However since km doing the autos I am going to have a long veg time on them. If I have to veg each for around 8 weeks or so do you think I should cut that count down from 9 to 6 girls in the tent? What is your veg time for the 9 u do?

Yes, Lighthouse and Blackstar are the same. Gotham is the US distributor. As mentioned, if you buy from them, call them directly, don't order on the web. They usually given enough of a discount to at least cover the shipping.

Their 240 watter pull about 140 actual watts. I think the new Chrome are a bit higher.

Ok so is blackstar the led and lighthouse and Gotham like the distributors?

Well muddy if I go chrome which ones should I get figure the one tall space I have would be actually 4x3x6.5 and next to it will be about 3x3x48. This is if I moved my space

The key with LEDs is growing within their core penetration area. During veg the lights are raised up more to provide good node spacing. Once they go into full flower, the lights are lowered for max bud growth. So when deciding which, and how many to buy, go by their coverage in flower. For the 180 watt Chrome that is 2' x 2'. for the 270, 2' x 3.

California Lightworks Solarstorm 800w LED. Uses 5 watt Diodes and has built in T8 UVB bulbs. Own and love it.

I'd be remis not to mention the Pro-Grow line from Hydroponics Hut. For around $1200, you could go with three PG-260s or two PG-400s. Basically any 2 or more combination of lamps (above the pg-180) would work too.

I would go with 4 of the Blackstar 240 watters, or something equivalent. Would be cheaper at about $1,100, provide better coverage and allow you to raise or lower each light independently for plants of varying heights. I think they would outperform a 1,000 watt HPS and with a lot less heat to deal with.

I think 16 plants in that space would be too crowded. Three gallon pots usually need about 15 - 18" square inches each, so about 9 - 12 would fit nicely.

Have LED's really come that far? 240 X 4 can actually outperform a 1000 watt HPS now?

Without a doubt. HPS only provide about 15% usable light compared to 95% + for LEDs. Of course, not all LEDs are equal, so care must be taken to purchase ones that are known good producers. The better LEDs now have light specrums tailored specifically for growing weed.

I started using LEDs when I started doing autos . Had always used HID lights / T5s/CFL . Honestly , I was pretty surprised at how good the LEDs are now and have been switching over each grow area to strictly LED .
These aren't your grandfathers LEDs ,lol .

I hate to throw another pie into the mix at this late stage in the day but its worth considering 1 x AF600 by Fero @ $1495. I have one of these and I'm well impressed with it and its capacity to cover a 4 x 4 area. Unofrtunately I've been struck down by pythium so cant post any proof of it working ... but as far as vegging goes it certainly out grew my other LEDs.
