New Grower What do you think about defoilation?

Will make another report soon, with Delahaze and all that defol stuff.
That is next experimental rabbit, this is only day 10 for her, she's a speedie! Just a perfect plant to actively work with!
Will top her tomorrow and will start a report in couple of days. Will show there how it works.

what do I think about defoliation? well I think its almost mandatory as well as improves light penetration and most autos can handle it well assuming your not ripping them off in droves LOL! just enough to let some light down to the surrounding small area near the lower bud sites and thats all. if its LITE green it needs light, that simple. Ive been doing it for prolly 5 years or so now and its very effective to improve the structure and the robustness of any auto most of the time unless its overly sensitive for some reason. but other than that ,thats what I think about defoliation.

In my limited experience, I'd agree. My little N/L was so bushy, I was damaging and stressing her trying to tuck leaves and do a little LST. That's prob why she remained so small and I also damaged her early buds. If only I had known about defoliation. I read it was bad for an auto, but how wrong they were. Once I started plucking the leaves, I realised how damp she was inside, so I went a little overboard. However, she responded really well

I have run testes(MULTIPLE tests really) Ive seen TaNg and other well to do growers over the years report done mostly correctly ,there is no issue, simple scarring on the leaves which is fully natural and all that fun. but yeah stand over it and lowly and slowly look and change your angle to see where you need to either Box,cut a finger off the full leaf or similar trimming just to open up that light hole.uber simplistic thing really.and yeah when you LST and do other stuff combined autos wont handle that as well, there is a more fine line when bending fully maturing stalks early on.hence the name but imho with autos its more of a medium stress training rather LOL!

Well I don't think I have a choice.
I have defoliated big time on this girl. Sometimes I had to take leaves off days apart and every time she took off.
if not she wouldn't have grown more than a foot high, she was that thick with leaves.
I have also cut a lot of lower branches off, again no choice and as you can see I should have took off more lower branches.
I have got her naked at least 3 times.
Now I have never topped any auto but when you get a girl that goes gonzo like this, that will be included in future grows if needed.
Almost every top you see has been broke over 3 to 4 different places 90 degrees till they snapped ( supercrop ) to slow down growth as I'm now about 9 inches from my lights.
And the plants took off. I have seen no ill effects to this except this might be why all my grows take 3 months or more to harvest.
But if I keep getting 1/2 pound or more off one plant in that little grow box, I'm good with it.
I am a big fan of supercropping.
I am now hoping she is done growing and in the fattening stage.
Everything I have read says this is a 70 day strain, I'm now at around 75 and maybe a month to go.she is a candy kush.
And by the looks of her now, yeah I'll get a another nice harvest.
If they fatten up thick, i'll guess 9 to 10 oz's.

to get truly MAX potential of most any plant really, you need to even in the slightest WITH tucking which does not always take for the day with air and things as well as growth too. but thats a fine example. even growth even canopy and just all around lovely growth. nice!

@Eyes on Fire I have tried a lot of tucking, next day same thing.
In such a small cabinet it gets rather perplexing sometimes and the better I get the worse it gets as far as crowding goes.
I'm now debating if my next grow I should remove more branches thru out the grow if she's going tall or maybe some kind of screen across her.
And I do like the way my tops react to supercropping, I swear it helps.
Wasn't expecting the kush to go like this.
It is a continueing experience every grow.
thankyou

I don't defoilate, there's just no need. Pruning branches is another thing.Removing whole shoots to direct growth makes sense, limiting bud growth to vertical only doesn't.
