I followed every instruction to a t on this site and have failed to produce one viable seed. I used cs to flip an auto fem which worked and used that plant to pollinate two gorgeous girls with. I waited till both girls were cashing in their retirement checks before i harvested the seeds. Most seeds were already falling on the ground when i harvested them, so i knew they were ready. About 85% of the seeds were big and beautiful with tiger stripes all over them. When i tried germinating four of them with the soak method none of the four seeds germinated. I was like ok thats weird, so i tried it again with four more of the best seeds and still zero germination. To rule out water and etc. i used distilled water and put four bag seeds in with four seeds i made on my own and still none of the seeds i made germinated while all of the bag seeds germinated, wth is going on? Is there some kinda dormancy period i havent read about?

Methods i used to germinate. First method i put the seeds in a warm cup of distilled water for 12 hours then planted them at different depths. The second method i tried was the paper towel method and got the same results. The bag seeds always popped open while my seeds just sat there for a week or more with no signs of germination.

i think you have to dry them out first but i dont breed and maybe youve done that already.. try planting some in soil maybe the soak or something related isnt helping.

I let them dry for about two weeks, the first week i put them in my closet and the second week i put them in a plastic bag with a few silica desiccant packages with a touch of rice.

That's odd--maybe try storing them in the fridge for a while first?

I have pulled them from the plant, put in soil and had them germinate. Most of what I read though indicates that they need a month of sitting around to get the best germ rates. This is consistent with the cannabis life cycle. A seed that germs after dropping in October will die in the winter. If they delay germination for a month, then winter temperatures will prevent it germing until the Spring arrives. I don't believe they require a cold period to germ (unlike many seeds). Still, it does no harm to put them in the fridge to give them that cold period if you desire. Don't freeze them unless you are sure you have got the moisture in the seeds down to near zero.

I have always read you need at least 2 - 3 months seeds drying (normal one, nothing as HI-Tech drying) before to get best germinating rate but that is from what I read only.
Did not reach reach to the breeding part yet but reading a lot :bong:
Good luck wit your project!
Peace

Tokaite is spot on. 2-3 months at 30% humidity or lower. I have been told this by a reputable commercial breeder on this site. You need to wait 2-3 months then IMO put them all in the freezer in freezer bags not sandwich bags but freezer bags. Good luck to you and congrats on the successful seed run!

i let my plants dry for at least 2 weeks in a very dry climate , 25% rh and never more then 30 % , if you think they are falling off or not the seeds will be ruined by plucking them off the plant if there is even the slightest bit of moisture left in the plant

so after 2 weeks of drying on the plant i then let the seeds alone dry for at least 2 more weeks before storing them

so thats a minimum of one month

best of luck with future attempts and peace

Do you still water the plants?
