During my first 2 grows, I used tap water that had sat out for at least 24 hours to dissipate any chlorine etc. On my first 2 grows I noticed that on all 8 plants, the fan leaves would all start to yellow and fall off starting with weeks 4-5. I used Fox Farms nutes for grow 1 and GO box for grow 2. Both grows yellowed after week 4 so I assumed it was the water as I had used different nutes for each grow.

For grow 3, I decided I'd do something different and try distilled water to see if that would make a difference. Nope. Here I am at week 5 and I have fan leaves yellowing. In this grow I am using the Flora series Micro and Bloom. @Mossy , you mentioned something about using a trace amount of vinegar if your water has too much calcium. is this correct? What does the vinegar do? How much would I use? As the distilled water did not make a difference I think I'm going to go back to tap.

So, to me, its not the water. In all 3 grows I have used FF Happy Frog so I am thinking that next time I am going to use a lighter soil. I have some Promix BX. Is BX hot? When would I need to start with nutes?

In regards to soil, I have had a couple people tell me that I have too much calcium going on with my nutes and soil and that is why they're stunted. This is the first time I have heard this. Does anyone have any information regarding this? Is there too much calcium being built up from all the amendments in the soils? I need to do more research on this.

Thanks for peeking in.........cheers!

I use advances nutrients so can't help ya there and I use bubbled tap for watering I'm willing to bet that FF soil may be an issue.... I run pro mix bx... it only contains a small amoint of starter nutes you can begin your feeds as early as 10 days as I do.... good luck in the future bro

Thanks Atrain!

Much..my tap water was PH 8.4 so I used the white wine vinegar as a PH down.
You don't need much.
My water is so cal heavy I could feel residue build up on the girls leaves...
Using the vinegar I lost the cal build up and my girls flourished.

Something I was told was the vinegar breaks down/neutralises in 48 hours..so you don't have to worry about build up..

Thanks Mossy! I'm going to try this. My water is liquid concrete and this will help!

Same as de-furring the kettle with it Munch..works a treat..and it is cheaper than calgon on the household appliances.
Give it a go..I can well recommend it..just don't over do it.

Will do! Thanks again. I know it is going to take me a bit of time to get the growing dialed in. I've got so many variable to adjust and play with. I am sure that this is one of my issues as my water is very hard and the PPM is high as well. That's half the fun though, finding what makes our girls tick.

@atrain , with the BX, do you add anything? What ph do you keep as it's considered soilless, correct?
AN nutes? Are you using Tangs schedule? I've been wanting to try AN.
Thanks.
