New Grower Weed smells like strawberry jam?

Hi i've been curing some Vertigo and it doesnt have much of a smell at all but in the jar im using to cure it smells like strawberry jam and im wondering is that normal? Its just this kinda warm/sweet/polleny smell with the faintest hint of strawberry but when i take the buds out the jar and bag them they seem to lose the smell from the jar. I find it all a bit strange tbh. It's like it doesnt really smell like strawberry but at the same time its very similar to the smell and "feel" i get in the nose when opeing a jar of jam and sniffing it. It was my friend who pinpointed the smells description better than i could have. He had a whiff from the jar and instantly said its like a jar of jam lol. I gave it molasses all the time like with almost every watering maybe this done it?

Im growing another strain i think is auto acid maybe (can't remember) and it smells like a rotting melon mixed with mango and cheese. Gonna be an interesting one lol.

The 2nd thing is in the jar you have larger mass of buds to smell, hence the smell is going to be stronger in the jar than out of the jar in smaller amounts. That is why the dispensaries would prefer to let you smell a whole jar than a bud.

Hi,the jar i used is just a big mason jar that was used for grain before and was thoroughly washed out before i used it and had no smell in it. I have used it to cure a couple of plants previously and didn't clean it out afterwards but all i could smell from it before i used it this time was a very very faint smell of weed from my last plant which was the same strain (Vertigo).

I was worried it was not going to be potent because it started to have a really strong smell of mango then that faded away and all that was left was an earthy/plant smell,i could not even detect a "weed" smell from it. Even after i cut it and hung it upside down to dry there was just this really really weird earthy smell,almost mould like and it was getting me worried that the stuff was gonna mould but i had a good look at all of it and theres absoloutely no spores or any weirdness on it just alot of crystals! I even kept some in a bag that wasn't dried out properly and theres no mould on it or bad smells just the same earthyness but in the jar it smells alot better!

Forgot to mention it turned out to be potent because im too stoned from it just now lol.

It should be normal for the totally odor-saturated air in the jar to smell different than loose, aired-out, repackaged, etc. buds. Letting the smell (odoriferous compounds) in the air inside whatever you are using to cure buds get highly concentrated is part of curing (with other things happening too). You are imbuing or letting the the desired odors/terpenes adsorb into the plant tissue (cellulose fibrils).

The smell of fresh and cured buds can vary greatly due to many variables, including the plant itself. If it's potent and has no smell, that's perfectly fine with me. But desired smell is a matter of personal preference.

I'm sure there are many reading this envious of your buds that could end up curing with a strawberry smell and/or even taste.

I had a nice god bud plant outdoor a few years back...while growing it smelt of nice strawberries and I was something excited......until....I had to cut early due to upcoming wet weather and the plant lost the beautiful strawberry smell during curing. So sad! Ive been interested in vertigo..how is potency?

An experiment: take a little bud and put it in a plastic bag with a piece of strawberry licorice. See if you get the bud to absorb some strawberry scent.

I once had a Greenhouse BigBang photoperiod(my first ever harvested plant), the buds smelled of strong sweet strawberries and was probably the nicest smelling weed I had. Sadly the smoke was harsh, spicy with lung expansion, had a weak high.
But I'll remember it because of the sweet smell for a long time

Ive been interested in vertigo..how is potency?

I'm smoking it just now and i feel pretty damn baked! I can do a couple of bowls and feel good for a few hours.Had good reports about it from the people i've shared it with aswell and people coming back for more lol. I've got high from all of the Auto's i've grown from Paradise Seeds. I've grown their old Automaria #1 strain wich they don't stock anymore,i've grown Automaria #2 and was smoking it earlier today and got baked lol. Their Pandora strain was very nice and got me wasted too. Right now i'm doing Auto Acid ,Vertigo,Automaria #2, Auto Whiteberry and Auto wappa.
