Thought i'd share this as I was starting to get annoyed with the pots

The other day I let the pots get too dry and water just run out of the top holes, wasted loads of water before the soil started to soak up

Wrap some cling film around before watering, saved me loads of hassle and water

Nifty idea mate! I didn't give it much thought, but had noticed that I needed a damn towel down before I started watering them!

Thanks!

I hadn't looked at my plants for a couple of days, when i did they was bone dry, the greenhouse was in the 40c, and I buy my water

I was sweating, wasting water and nutes and spending ages trying to get it to soak up, water pissing out of the holes, the mrs casually walks in and says 'why dont you wrap them in cling film'

lol, the idea was too simple for me, i'm the kind of bloke who gets his tool box out and takes things apart only to find out it wasn't switched on!

Cool idea Villain.
Part of my TLC consists of loosening up the top layer of soil with a fork and breaking up all the bigger clumps that that causes, then spraying down that loosened soil with my spray bottle to get it soggy and absorbent. Then I just take it slow and easy, about 250 - 500 ml at a time, smoke break once or twice in between. The airpots are standing in trays, so what little does run out of the holes is caught and then put back in up top at the end.

Good idea with the spray bottle, it was definitely the the top layer that was the problem

I did think about getting a tray but the base of the pot is about 50mm up from the bottom edge

...and I have to give credit where it's due- I adopted this idea from Red. 'cept he feeds fast, and has more to put back in on top, and I go slow. Personal preferences.. :smokebuds:

Just thought i'd add my :2cents:

I was having exactly the same prob so bought this on a whim...

They do a 8L and a 3L...the website says the 8L are sold out ATM (restocking soon) but i saw them in my local wilkos at the weekend.

Problem sorted, It has a trigger function so you can regulate the speed of the water so no more water pissing out the holes.
Takes a little longer but fuck it, gives you a excuse to roll a fat 1 and chill :toke:
