Hi Fella's,
I'm a bit confused with soil and water PH.
After looking at many soil's I"be decided to go with Biobizz Allmix as my main growing soil, although I plan to start my seedlings in a light seedling mix first.
My questions are:
What is the Soil PH of Allmix? What should it be? Is Allmix any good for Auto's?
What should the water PH be so Nute "Lock-up" does not occur?
I think my Tap water is just under 8.0, but I will test it.
Does leaving the water overnight lower the PH?
In the past, growing a couple of photo periods, their growing just seem to stop, they weren't very big either, I'm sure this was nute lockup as I was a total beginner then and never realised the importance of Soil AND Water PH.
Any inf much appreciated Guys.
I really want to get it right this time! Lol.

Never heard of allmix so I can't comment on its PH.Most mixes are neutrul around 7.00.Your PH of your watr going in ,after you add nutes should be around 6.2 or6.3.Your tap watyer is high like mine so get some Ph down at a grow store to bring it down. While your at it get some cal-mag this should keep your PH in line. Also check your runoff water,it should be the same as your intake water.

smw5767--You may want to edit your title to - Water PH and Soil--in UK or East England?

You guys have completely different soils and very different water sources etc. then US (although we have all kinds of water quality variations). If you add UK one of your AFN mates will assist--without a doubt.

Take it easy.

Mines 7.3 ( south east ) and i would use light mix instead of all-mix its a bit hot to start autos in. Start your water going.g in at 7.0 and put enough through soil to catch some runoff to see where your ph is at. should be like 6.2 - 6.5 that will prevent lockout dude. Light mix soil is at ph 6.2 and all-mix i think is ph 6.8

hey smw the ph of allmix is 6.6. from the info i have got from here i went for biobizz light mix as its good to use from start to finish, as for the water ph that should be between 6.3 and 6.5. i think leaving the water overnight slightly changes the ph but not a lot when you leave it over night it aeriates it making it better for the roots and plant. hope this is of some help :toke:
:peace:

Cheers mate,
I'm in Cambridge so not to far from you and old London Town! Lol
I must have my wires crossed because I thought Allmix was ok once the plants were about 3/4 weeks old and strong enough to cope with the hotter soil? My plan was to start them in a light mix first though, then pot up into the hotter
allmix when ready.what do you think?

Yh m8 should be ok to do that just be light on the nutes for a while after transplant all-mix has quite a bit in it, i start and Finnish in light mix soil and don't transplant, start them in there finnal pots. ;) less stress the better. :toke:

Ps leave your water out for 24hrs so the chlorine can evaporate! ;)

this is what i meant in my earlier post lol

you would be fine to move them into the allmix i think, but im just using the light mix to make it a bit easier for me, you can get nutes that buffer the ph of the water when you add them which also should make life a little easier

Cheers Mate,
My plan is to just use Biobizz grow and bloom. But the more I think about light mix
the more I like the sound of it.Sounds easier to use and more forgiving.I guess the great thing about it too is,it sounds like its perfect for seedlings AND mature plants so you can use it for your whole grow, makes life easier too!
Cheers mate
